Allard Steals Série ACT Castrol Opener at Montmagny

ACT American Canadian TourFormer Serie ACT Castrol Champion Karl Allard, of St. Félicien, QC claimed the victory in the season opening event at Autodrome Montmagny in Montmagny, QC on Saturday, May 26. He had to earn it by fending off two-time and defending Série ACT Castrol Champion Patrick Laperle, and early leader Jean-François Déry who finished third.

The early part of the race was led by Jonathan Desbiens from the pole starting position until the second caution of the event on lap 9. Déry then flew to the point and dominated the race, multiple car lengths ahead of the field at times, and looked like the car to beat. Meanwhile, Allard and Laperle picked their way through the field from 13th and 16th respectively over the first three-quarters of the event.

Speedway 660 Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener

Fans were treated to an exciting night of racing as Speedway 660 opened the 2012 season. Glyn Nott and Greg Fahey dominated action in the Sportsman and Pro Stock Division. Nott completed the hat trick in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman Division by winning his heat, dash and feature. Fahey won his heat, finished 2nd in the dash and won the A.L. Gullison Disaster Clean-up Pro Stock feature.

Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener Kicks off 2012 – It’s Time to Go Racing!

Speedway 660’s season number 19 takes flight Saturday night at 7PM with the Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener. Race fans will see action in five divisions –Pro Stocks; Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman; Street Stocks; Four Cylinders and; Hanwell Village Mart Bandoleros.

“We expect between 80 and 100 race teams to invade the Geary Woods on Saturday to get the short-track stock car racing season off to a roaring start” said Chris Johnston, one of Speedway 660’s owners. “The Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener is always exciting and after a long off-season our fans, sponsors, race teams and staff are all ready to get going.”

It’s been over eight months since Shawn Tucker became the third two time AutoValue 250 winner at the 2011 SpeedWeekend. Between now and SpeedWeekend 2012, Speedway 660 will be busy providing fans with the best racing in Atlantic Canada.

Helliwell’s Lead Trimmed, Competition Stirs

Waterbury, VT – Eight-time American Canadian Tour Champion Brian Hoar started off his title defense with convincing victories in 2012, beating out four-time Lee USA Speedway Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr. by a collective car length in each of the first two events. The pair soared far above the field and looked to be gearing up for a two car battle for the 2012 ACT Championship. Last Sunday, May 20 at Oxford Plains Speedway it all changed.

Canadians Prepare for Montmagny Start of Season with Série ACT Castrol Racing

ACT American Canadian TourAfter a long off-season, the stars of the Série ACT Castrol are preparing their cars for the 2012 season opener at Autodrome Montmagny in Montmagny, QC on Saturday, May 26. Patrick Laperle of St-Denis, QC will look to begin his title defense with a message at Montmagny, but he won’t be the only one.

2010 Série ACT Castrol Champion Karl Allard of St-Felicien, QC is eager to improve on his runner-up points finish in 2011, and Autodrome Montmagny is just the place for him to start. Allard is the only driver to have finished in the top five in all of the last six races at the track, dating back to May of 2009. However, Allard’s consistency will have to combat Laperle’s overpowering 3 wins in the last 5 races at Autodrome Montmagny.

Airborne Speedway Late Models face Canadian invasion

It’s more laps, more money and more competition for Airborne’s J&S Steel Limited Late Models this Saturday night, May 12 when TD Bank presents the opening round of the six-race USA/Canada Master Series.

Defending track champion Robin Wood, last week’s feature winner Jamy Begor, Shawn Duquette and Bucko Branham are among the Airborne frontrunners who will test the best from Autodrome St-Eustache in a 50-lap, $1,000-to-win event.

Branham, the winningest Airborne driver of the last decade, came out on top when the Canadian teams made their first-ever appearance on the Plattsburgh half-mile last fall.
