JACQUES VILLENEUVE TO DRIVE NO. 22 DODGE FOR PENSKE RACING AT ROAD AMERICA, MONTREAL NASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES RACES

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 24, 2011) – One of the most accomplished racers in recent history will join Penske Racing for two upcoming road course races on the 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) schedule.

Former world champion driver Jacques Villeneuve will compete behind the wheel of the No. 22 Discount Tire/Ruby Tuesday Dodge Challenger in the Nationwide Series races at Road America (June 25) and Montreal (August 20). Villeneuve will fill in for reigning Nationwide Series champion, Brad Keselowski, at the two events, which will be run on non-companion race weekends with the NASCAR Cup Series.

Racing Action Returns to Speedway 660 this Weekend!

It’s that time of year again, the wait is over, let the summer festivities begin. This Saturday the 2011 season will open with the Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opener. There will be points racing in every division, the RVWorld Street Stocks, the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman, and Pro Stocks. In addition fan will see the return of the 4 cylinder division and the Hanwell Village Mart Bandolero division. Everything gets underway at 7pm with heats, dashes and features in all divisions. In addition fans will see Bandolero and 4 Cylinder heat races at approx 6:20pm.

The smell of fresh paint will be in the air as teams unveil their new rides for 2011. There will be several new cars in each division not to mention the cagy veterans that will be looking for another successful year. The Hanwell Village Mart Bandolero division and the 4 cylinder division look to have doubled in car count over the winter also.

Patrick Laperle Wins Série ACT Castrol Season Opener at Autodrome Chaudiere

Vallee-Jonction, QC – St-Denis, QC’s Patrick Laperle wins the Série ACT Castrol season opener at Autodrome Chaudiere on Saturday, May 21. Laperle started on the pole position after earning a plus four in the plus-minus handicap system. The former Série ACT Castrol and ACT Late Model Tour Champion battled for the majority of the event with defending Série ACT Castrol Champion Karl Allard from St-Felicien, QC.

The two swapped the lead several times until Laperle took over for good on lap 63. Allard still fought on the outside on multiple restarts before spinning on a lap 144 restart and hitting the wall coming out of turn four.

ACT CASTROL SERIES READY TO OPEN AT CHAUDIERE

Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) will open the 5th season of championship stock car racing for the Série ACT Castrol on Saturday, May 21. The popular series will begin the 2011 season at Autodrome Chaudiere in the Beauce Region of Quebec, just east of Quebec City.

This will be the first time the Series has opened its season at the Vallee Junction, QC bullring, which has become a favorite of Castrol Series teams. There are always huge supportive crowds, and traditionally some of the most exciting racing on the Series. It is the home of the ACT Showdown of Champions, a special 200-lap race between the best of the Castrol teams and the best of the US teams, at the end of each season paying $5,000 to win with $40,000 in overall purse and prize money to the top eleven (11) competitors from the ACT Castrol Serie and ACT US regulars.

First Truck Registers – Mini Champ Moves Up

April 18, 2011 – CFS is pleased and excited to announce that we have our first Trcuk competitor registered for the 2011 campaign at the CENTRE. The competitor from Nova Scotia is looking forward to competing against the rest of the Shediac Sportsman class with his 1/4 ton entry. In other exciting Shediac Sportsman news, multi Mini Stock champ, Martin Landry, of Barachois also announced he has acquired a new ride for the class. Landry, who made the Mini Stock class look easy for the past several years decided to challenge his existing skills and build on his considerable driving abiliity by taking the step up into the Shediac Sportsman. Landry will add additional excitement in the “crash and bang, sideways swerving, keep you on the edge of your seat” class that is the Shediac Sportsman. (more…)
