NASCAR WHELEN MODIFIED TOUR RETURNS TO THOMPSON ON JUNE 30TH.
THOMPSON, CT. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will make its second stop of the year at the Thompson International Speedway on Thursday, June 30th for the BUDWEISER 150. This special event marks the return of the WMT to Thompson for a June race.
The BUDWEISER “KING OF BEERS” 150 will be 5th race of the season for the most popular touring series in the northeast. NASCAR’s best open wheel race teams and drivers make up the impressive roster of competitors and all are expected to be in attendance for the Bud 150. (more…)
Thompson, CT. — Mike Stefanik of Coventry, RI., took the lead on the opening lap
and went on to win the 75-lap Valenti Modified Racing Series race Thursday night at Thompson Speedway, Thompson, CT. The win was Stefaniks’ second with the VMRS making him a guaranteed starter for the annual Ricky’s Race for Kids, July 16, at Canaan Fair Speedway, Canaan, NH. That race carries a purse in excess of $36,000, the highest in the eight-year history of the New England based modified racing series.
Stefanik was also the series fourth different winner this season.
Pole-sitter, Dave Etheridge, Portland, CT., Chris Pasteryak, Lisbon, CT., and Rowan Pennink, Huntingdon Valley, PA., challenged Stefanik, driving for car-owner Ed Marceau, but the popular Stefanik was never headed. (more…)

THOMPSON, CT. The Valenti Modified Racing Series will highlight the competition this Thursday night at the Thompson International Speedway. This impressive touring series boasts a roster of Modified drivers that includes many of the very best drivers in the entire northeast. Thursday night’s appearance will be the first of two scheduled races for the VMRS at Thompson this year.
The Thompson race will be the 5th event in their 17 race schedule and promises to be one of the best of the year. VMRS race teams love the big, high banked, super fast Thompson track where there is lots of room to get the most out of their racers. (more…)
Thompson, CT (June 9, 2011): Heavy down pours and the forecast for severe weather in the region forced the cancellation of NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action at Thompson International Speedway on Thursday night. Just as practice concluded torrential rain and heavy winds swept into the area. A grim forecast for much of the same prompted the call. The rain check policy will be published on speedway’s official website thompsonspeedway.com. An announcement will also be made regarding the rescheduling of the extra-distance race for the Super Late Models. (more…)
