MODIFIED RACING SERIES RETURNS TO THOMPSON THIS WEEK

THOMPSON, CT. The exciting Modified Racing Series returns to the Thompson International Speedway this Thursday night for their second 75-lap race of the season. The MRS made its first appearance of the year in June and thrilled fans with a great evening of open wheel action.

Les Hinkley of Windsor Locks, CT claimed the victory in the hotly contested TOWN FAIR TIRE MRS feature race in June at Thompson and he is looking to make it two in a row at the largest track on which the MRS competes. Hinkley will be challenged by current MRS points leader Dwight Jarvis and other top contenders like Jon McKennedy, Rowan Pennink, Steve Masse and Ken Barry. A full field of Modified racers is expected for this special event.

NEW ENGLAND TRUCK SERIES TO JOIN THOMPSON’S “SUPER 6” ON THURSDAY

THOMPSON, CT. The New England Truck Series will make its first of two 2010 appearances this Thursday at the Thompson International Speedway. Truck racing has become a regular part of the yearly schedule at Thompson and fans look forward to their exciting and competitive racing.

New England Truck Series (NETS) points leader, Andy Lindeman will lead the field of race trucks. He will be joined by such tough competitors as Gee Perry, Greg Butler, Jr., Craig Cashman, John St.Germain and many more. (more…)

Ramstrom Finishes 3rd In Strong Thompson Effort

Derek Ramstrom of West Boylston, Mass., finished third in a caution-free Super Late Model feature at Thompson International Speedway in Thompson, Conn., on Thursday night. Ramstrom, the defending Super Late Model champion at the track, started sixth in the 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Super Late Model event and climbed to third just past the halfway mark. He battled Rick Fuller for several laps over the final 10 laps of the race, but he never got a late-race restart that would have gained him valuable track position on eventual winner Mike Stefanik. Ramstrom, who has five wins on the season, closed to within six points of Mike O’Sullivan for the division lead.

RAIN POSTPONES TOUR-TYPE MODIFIED RACE AT THOMPSON

THOMPSON, CT. Severe weather forced Thompson International Speedway officials to postpone the August 5th Tour-Type Modified Shoot Out. The rescheduled date for the event will be Sunday, September 26th. The new date will be the final Thompson points event of the season and will include Thompson’s Super 6 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions along with the Tour-Type Modified 40-lap Shoot Out. Grandstands will open at 1 PM with racing action starting at 2:15 PM.

TOUR-TYPE MODS RETURN TO THOMPSON-BUD 150 ENTRIES NEAR 30.

THOMPSON, CT. The third of four Tour-Type Modified shoot out races will be held this Thursday, August 5th, at the Thompson International Speedway. These exciting, open competition style Modified races have been a big hit with Thompson fans and with this week’s event and another scheduled for Thursday, September 2nd, these 40-lap shoot outs could easily become a staple in annual race schedules.

Top Modified drivers have indicated that they love the short, 40-lap dash format. It means flat out racing from start to finish and, for many, it brings back what has been called the golden era of Modified racing in New England.

Thompson, CT (July 29, 2010): Ted Christopher of Plainville, CT, continued his domination of the Sunoco Modified division with his seventh victory of the season. A special night for the Mini Stocks found Chris McKinstry of E. Thetford, VT victorious in the Mini Stock Northern Challenge. McKinstry also scored the top honors in the Northeastern Mini Stock Touring season portion of the Challenge. Thomspon’s own Jeff Moffat of Warwick, RI, also shared the limelight.
