PRO ALL STARS TO SHINE AT THOMPSON THIS THURSDAY

THOMPSON, CT. The Pro All Star Super Late Models return to the Thompson Int’l Speedway this Thursday night. This very popular touring series will get top billing due to their scheduled 75-lap main event. Joining the Pro All Star Series (PASS) will be Thompson’s Super 6 NASCAR Whelen All-American series divisions.

Current PASS points leader, Johnny Clark of Hallowell, ME, will lead the field of ultra-fast race cars and northern New England’s best drivers. This once a year appearance of the PASS race teams will bring out full fender race car fans from all over the northeast.

SUNOCO MODIFIEDS FACE 50-LAP MAIN EVENT ON THURSDAY

THOMPSON, CT. Thompson Speedway’s Sunoco Modifieds, the track’s premier NASCAR division, will compete in their longest race of the season this Thursday night. The annual 50-lap event is, to many, the highlight of their season. Fans and competitors alike look forward to this race due to the traditional excitement that surrounds it and the incredible competition displayed weekly from these ultra-fast, open wheel racers.

Current points leader, Ted Christopher, will go into the 50-lap event with a slim 36 point advantage over Rowan Pennink. Pennink finds himself a mere 10 points ahead of third place Keith Rocco and Rocco’s advantage over 4th place Ronnie Silk is only 12 points. Woody Pitkat rounds out the top five in the current points standings and is only 100 points behind the leader.

Sullivan Wins TIS Extra-Distance Event; Gelinas Earns Thompson First; Monahan Doubles Up in Limiteds; Falconi & Dorr Also Winners

Thompson, CT (July 8, 2010): Danny Cates of Chaplin, CT, was stout in his victory in the Sunoco Modified main event on Thursday night at Thompson International Speedway. Brian Sullivan of S Windsor, CT, shined in the TIS Modified annual extra-distance event. While Shawn Monahan of Waterford, CT, turned in a repeat winning performance in the Limited Sportsman division and it was a night of firsts in the Super Late Models and Mini Stocks. Larry Gelinas of Buxton, ME, earned his first-ever Thompson victory in a hotly contested Super Late Model feature. Dwayne Dorr of Ledyard, CT, turned in a dominating performance to score his first Mini Stock victory of 2010. John Falconi of North Grafton, MA, was awarded the victory in the Late Models.

Mechanical woes plagued Danny Cates of Chaplin, CT, throughout practice; but his mount was stout when it counted. Cates drove by the toughest competition to score the popular victory. Ronnie Silk and Tim Sullivan went wheel-to-wheel in the opening laps as they battled for the lead. Rowan Pennink was looking racy in third.

Derek Ramstrom Survives Long Day To Finish 2nd At Thompson

THOMPSON, Conn. — Derek Ramstrom of West Boylston, Mass., finished second in the 30-lap Super Late Model feature at Thompson International Speedway on Thursday night, July 8. Ramstrom battled a myriad of problems in practice and a tight race car in the feature to post his fifth top-2 finish in seven starts at Thompson this season. Unofficially, Ramstrom took the division’s points lead, breaking a three-way tie with Mike O’Sullivan and Dennis Maxfield as he tries to win a second consecutive Super Late Model championship. Ramstrom started third in the field and battled eventual winner Larry Gelinas for the lead throughout the caution-free feature event as part of Thompson’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series program.

Stefanik Returns to Victory Lane at Thompson in Mod Shootout; Cabral Wins NEMA’s Rifkin Memorial

Thompson Three-Peat for Christopher at Thompson; Gentes, Monahan, Tagg & Defevers Also Score Victories

Thompson, CT (July 1, 2010): Thompson International Speedway kicked off the holiday weekend with a great night of racing. For the second week in a row, the Tour-Type Modifieds headlined an action-packed night that also included the Northeastern Midget Association and five of the regular NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions. Mike Stefanik of Coventry, RI, stormed to victory lane in the Tour-Type Modified Shootout. Randy Cabral of Plymouth, MA, earned the victory in a thrilling finish to the Marvin Rifchin Memorial event for the Northeastern Midget Association (NEMA).

Ted Christopher of Plainville, CT, made it three-in-a-row in Sunoco Modified action with another last lap pass for the win. Rick Gentes of Woonsocket, RI, turned in a commanding performance to win his third Late Model victory of the season. Shawn Monahan of Waterford, CT, turned it on late in the Limited Sportsman main event to score his third victory of the season. Brian Tagg of Oxford, MA, charged to his first TIS Modified win of the 2010 season and Leo Defevers of Brooklyn, CT, made it two straight in Mini Stock competition. (more…)

THOMPSON, CT. Two very special events make up the 4th of July holiday weekend at the Thompson International Speedway. Thursday night, July 1st, will kick off the holiday celebration when Thompson plays host to the Tour-Type Modifieds, NEMA Midgets and five of its own NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions. Two days later, the Thompson Speedway switches gears and becomes a haven for Monster Truck fans.
