Ramstrom Grabs Fourth Win Of The Season At Thompson

Derek Ramstrom of West Boylston, Mass., won his fourth feature event of the season at Thompson International Speedway in Thompson, Conn., on Thursday night. Ramstrom, the defending Super Late Model champion at the track, has four victories this season in just six starts. He started fourth in the 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series event and sprinted to the lead before the field completed the first lap. From there, Ramstrom went unchallenged to the victory and moved into a 3-way tie atop the division’s point standings with Mike O’Sullivan and Dennis Maxfield.

Thompson, CT (June 24, 2010): It took several weeks to complete the first of the Thompson International Speedway Town Fair Tire Tour-Type Modified Shootouts for the 2010 season. For Ronnie Silk of Norwalk, CT, and his TS Haulers Racing Team it was worth the wait. On Thursday night, Thompson Speedway featured the continuation of an event that was postponed back on June 3 after rains halted the program. In addition to the Tour-Type Modifieds, all six of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions were in competition.

NEW ATTITUDE: Ramstrom Vows To Learn From Experience

WEST BOYLSTON, Mass. — Derek Ramstrom doesn’t want to play the nice guy anymore.

After his No. 35 Charter Communications/Matthews Truck Service and Towing Chevrolet spun while racing for the lead off the final corner of Thursday night’s 30-lap Super Late Model feature at Thompson International Speedway, Ramstrom said he’s finally reached his breaking point. He was credited with a 10th-place finish and was more upset by the loss of a possible victory than the loss of points toward a potential championship.

THOMPSON, CT. The Modified Racing Series (formerly the True Value Modifieds) will headline the racing action on Thursday, June 17th, at the Thompson International Speedway. This exciting Modified race car touring series will make the first of two scheduled stops at Thompson this season with a 75-lap feature event.

Rocco Scores Sunoco Mod Victory at Thompson;

Monahan Dominates Limited 50-Lapper;

Banfield, Gentes, McDermott, & Churchill Also Victorious

Thompson, CT (May 27, 2010): On Thursday Night Thompson Thunder at Thompson International Speedway the Limited Sportsman division shared the limelight with the headlining Sunoco Modifieds. Two colorful personalities were victorious on the special night. Keith Rocco of Wallingford, CT, earned his second win of the 2010 season in the Sunoco Modified division. Shawn Monahan of Waterford, CT, took a commanding win in the annual extra distance event for the Limited Sportsman division.

Jim Banfield of S. Glastonbury, CT, wired the field to score a hard-fought victory in the Super Late Models. Rick Gentes of Woonsocket, RI, took top honors in a wild Late Model event while Cam “Keith” McDermott of Scituate, RI, was victorious in the TIS Modifieds. Randy Churchill, Jr., of Oakdale, CT, was awarded the victory in the Mini Stocks following post-race technical inspection.

BONUS MONEY ADDED TO TOUR-TYPE MODIFIED RACE AT THOMPSON

THOMPSON, CT. More than two thousand dollars have been added to the June 3rd Tour-Type Modified race at Thompson. Each competitor will all have an equal chance to pick up some of the additional money due to the unique way this program will work.

Brad LaFontaine, of Northeast Race Cars and Parts, organized the effort to raise the additional money and has asked that it be distributed to competitors through random drawings of all competing car numbers. Each lap will be worth at least $50.00 in cash or gift cards with lap four offering a $100.00 fuel gift card. In addition, a special $50.00 gift card will be given to a competitor who will be selected by officials at the conclusion of the event.
