SAINT CROIX, Quebec – Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, rallied back from deep in the field with handling issues to finish sixth in the ACT Late Model Tour Can-Am 200 at Circuit Riverside Speedway in Saint Croix, Quebec, on Saturday, August 25. Although he’s been atop the Dysart’s Late Model points chart for most of the 2012 season, it took Andy Saunders of Ellsworth until this past Saturday night to finally post a feature race win in the track’s premier division. Saunders started the race in the fifth spot in the 17 car field, and it took him until a restart on lap 26 before he could pass Milford’s Deane Smart to take the lead. Smart had led the event for most of the first 26 laps, losing it for only a lap at a time through close competition from Duane Seekins of Stockton Springs and Hermon’s Phil Richardson, who took turns challenging Smart for the top spot. Smart fought them both off, but didn’t have enough left at the end to keep Saunders from taking the win. Smart finished second with Seekins in third. Fourth went to Joey Doyon of Winterport with Hermon’s Dale Swoboda finishing fifth.

Garett Hayman of Milford led all 25 laps of the Little Enduro Series race #3 on Varney Buick-GMC-Mazda’s Wacky Wednesday night at Speedway and, in the process, picked up the series points title with a perfect score of 300. Hayman won the evening’s first qualifier, which placed him on the pole for the main event. He led outside pole-sitter Jeremy Scott of Carmel, who won the second qualifier, for 23 laps until the red came out for a solo spin by Glenburn’s Emma Libby in turn 2. On the restart, Hayman again pulled away from Scott, but Newburgh’s Darren Durrell got in the gas hard and followed Hayman past Scott to finish second, with Scott finishing in third. Kyle Gallant, who battled with Durrell for most of the race finished in fourth with Donny Silva of Hudson finishing fifth in a borrowed car. Hayman also currently leads the Little Enduro season points with 2 race dates remaining in the season.

With just two weeks remaining in the VIP Thursday Thunder Series for the Amsoil Nelcar Legends Tour, many different drivers were still looking to break into Victory Lane and time was running out. The driver victorious tonight however has had his share of victories and championships in his career. The 21 car field took to the racetrack as the final event of another exciting night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, and another great show was in the making.
On the pole was another veteran of the Tour, Chad Harrington behind the wheel of car 46 with the 2 of sophomore driver Ryan Hammar on the outside of the front row. On the start, Hammar was able to use the outside line and vault himself to the lead with Harrington in second. Just a few laps into the race however, the 17 of Terry Kirk and the 81 of Dan Winter made contact through turns one and two, which resulted in Winter going for a spin and snapping his rear axle, ending his night early after limping back to the pits.

Bob Seger Jr. of Frankfort won the Big Enduro feature Wednesday night and made it three for three in the Big Enduro Series at Speedway 95 this summer as he won all three qualifiers and features in the series, ending with a perfect 300 points. Alvin MacNevin of Clifton gave chase to Seger in the series finale but was only able to get as close as Seger would let him get in the closing laps. MacNevin finished second with his brother, Shawn MacNevin of Hudson finishing third after a race long battle with Shawn Racilla of Dover-Foxcroft for the position. Racilla finished fourth with Melanie Mitchell of Milo finishing fifth.
In the Little Enduros, Darren Durrell of Newburgh took the lead from Andrew Crosby of Hermon on a lap 11 restart and held on for the win after working his way up from the rear of the field at the start. Crosby hung on to second with Milford’s Garett Hayman right on his bumper to finish third. Kyle Gallant of Veazie fell to fourth in the late stages of the event, and Charles McKusic of Abbott finished fifth.
