NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Winner Keselowski enters TD Bank 250

OXFORD, Maine – Brad Keselowski, who pilots the number 12 car for Penske Motorsports in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, has announced his entry in the TD Bank 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway on July 18.

Qualifying for the famed race begins at 2 pm on race day, with the main event scheduled for 6:30.

Keselowski emerged as a force in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2008 while driving for Dale Earnhardt, Jr’s JR Motorsports. He finished third in points that year notching two wins. He followed up that effort with a third place finish in the Nationwide Series points in 2009. His success in the Nationwide Series led to a ride in the Sprint Cup, which he capitalized on with a win at Talladega. His Talladega win was the defining moment of his young career. In 2010, Brad is running both a full Nationwide Series schedule in addition to his Sprint Cup duties. Keselowski currently sits as the leader in the Nationwide Series points and in twenty-fourth position in the Sprint Cup. In addition to his success on the track, Brad has quickly endeared himself to NASCAR fans as they chose him the Nationwide Series Most Popular Driver in 2008 and 2009. (more…)

Eddie MacDonald Wins Second ACT Tour at OPS

Oxford, ME – Rowley MA’s Eddie MacDonald took the checkers in the second ACT Late Model Tour event at Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday, June 19. MacDonald led the last 43 laps of the 150 lap event after taking the lead from current ACT Late Model Tour point leader Brian Hoar.

Ricky Rolfe would claim second, TJ Brackett third, Corey Morgan fourth and Hoar would hold on to fifth. Tommy Ricker, Brent Dragon, Tim Brackett, Jeff White and Austin Theriault completed the top ten.

The 150 lap event was completed with just four cautions and took one hour and four minutes. A total of 50 cars attempted to qualify with 33 making the starting grid. All but two were on the track for the checkered flag.

Unity, Maine – Veteran racer Ed ‘Fubby’ Drake of Vasalboro outran his Late Model division rivals and Sidney’s Kevin Douglass prevailed in an extended, 40-lap main event for the Monster Energy Drink Monsta Mini class, topping the stock car racing card Saturday night at Unity Raceway. Victory lane at Maine’s Toughest Racing oval also played host to Nate Weston of Madison, Bryan Robbins of Montville, Ben Clark of Clinton, Justin Moore of Madison, Chelsea Young of Winterport, Cole Robinson of Clinton and George Fernald III of Benton in front of the season’s largest crowd, to date.

Ben Tinker wins Budweiser 100 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway.

Scarborough,Maine- Ben Tinker made his first ever Sport Series win at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway a memorable one by capturing the biggest race of the season for the division. Tinker took the lead at the drop of the green flag and led the opening 38 laps of the race despite challenges from Russ Morse and Chris Smith. Chris Smith took over the lead on lap 39 as Corey Bubar moved to second place and Tinker dropped to third. A caution flag waved on lap 51 when the fourth and fifth place cars of Sally Gherardi and Russ Morse made contact with both cars spinning in turn four. Smith would go back to the front until another caution came out at lap 68. Corey Bubar got the jump on the restart and took the lead with Smith on his bumper. The lead pack of Corey Bubar, Chris Smith, Ben Tinker and Don Colpritt were racing in close quarters with the laps winding down. Smith made a move to the inside on Bubar on lap 88 and the two drivers raced side by side for the lead over the nest 7 laps. (more…)

Naples ME (6/21) Johnny Clark returned to home turf Sunday for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Fathers’ Day 150 at Unity (ME) Raceway and he wasted little time getting to the front of the field to earn his third PASS North Super Late Model victory in a row. Starting 11th on the gird, Clark took the lead on lap 36 and kept the pack in his rear view mirror the rest of the way.

Trevor Sanborn kept Clark honest, dogging the defending series champ right to the checkers before settling for second. Ben Rowe chased Clark and Sanborn to the stripe in third and Gary Smith had his best result t of 2010 with a fourth place run. Cassius Clark completed the top five.
