Opening day at Wiscasset Speedway. The reverberation of engines in the air, the scent of exhaust. The palpable excitement of both fans and drivers alike, as an end is finally put to winter and the cars hit the track once again.
Starting the racing action was a fifty lap Prostock feature. The #05 of James Osmond dominated the heat and started the feature at the pole. Osmond powered to the lead, and for over thirty laps led the pack. It looked like it was Osmond’s race to win. Behind him were the #01 of Andy Saunders and the #15 of Nick Hinkley.

Oxford, ME – DJ Shaw and the #60 Precision JLM team returned to Oxford Plains Speedway this past weekend for the start of the new Pro All Stars Series North season. After driving what Shaw described early in the day as an ill handling car, he put on an epic show with the “Maine Racing Legend,” Mike Rowe for the win, and started the season with a strong second place effort.
“We weren’t good enough on the short runs there at the end,” Shaw recounted of his effort, “I feel like we had the better car, but getting to Mike and passing him are two different things. He earned this one and after the struggles we had in practice with this new car I’m really happy with the second place run.” (more…)

151ST career main event win for Hall of Famer tops busy racing card
Oxford, ME – Mike Rowe of Turner, Maine raced to his 151st Oxford Plains Speedway main event win, earning a trip to victory lane in his maiden voyage aboard Peter Petit’s lucky number 7 in AIM Recycling Pro All Stars Series Super Late Model competition at Oxford Plains Speedway on Sunday afternoon, while Joey ‘Pole’ Polewarczyk prevailed in the co-headlining ACT Late Model Tour 150-lapper.
Rowe, a 64-year-old veteran, multi-time track champion and all-around legend at the speedway where he was a track titlist a full four decades ago, waged a race-long battle with reigning series champion DJ Shaw of Conway, New Hampshire for supremacy in a thrilling 150-lapper for the ultra-quick AIM Super Late Models. The ACT Late Model Tour event at Oxford Plains Speedway scheduled for Saturday, April 18 has been postponed to Sunday, April 19 due to inclement weather forecast. Post time is 2:00pm, with the pit gates opening at 7:30am and front gates at 9:30am.
