A spring Nor’Easter hit the region on May twenty-fifth and Wiscasset Speedway was forced to call off the scheduled Saturday races. Ken Minott, track promoter said, “Back on Mothers Day weekend we waited til the last minute to cancel. We really thought we had a window of opportunity for the races to carry on. For the second time in the month of May, poor weather conditions have caused racing at the 1/3 mile Hermon oval to be cancelled. With the forecast showing no promise, track officials called the program early in the day to give drivers and fans as much notice as possible that the racing program would not be held. (more…)
WINDHAM, Maine – Third-generation champion Bradley Babb of Windham, Maine, returns to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, May 25, for the season-opening Pro Series 40. Babb won the 2012 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track championship at Beech Ridge last season after winning this race, and he plans on trying to become the track’s first third-generation multi-time champion – after both his grandfather, Robert Babb Sr., and father, Bobby Babb, each won multiple championships during their careers at the .333-mile oval. The No. 4 Babb Wood Contractors/McGoldrick Bros. Blasting Chevrolet will be joined in the field by the No. 14 Chevrolet for Bobby Babb in 2013. (more…)

THE STORY
FALMOUTH, Maine – Bobby Timmons III of Windham, Maine, returns to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series with a 40-lap Pro Series feature event at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, May 25. Timmons finished sixth in the final Pro Series standings in his first full season of competition last year, and the Mulkern Racing No. 48 Timmons Machine/Southern Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge returns in 2013 with championship aspirations for the second-generation driver. Timmons won one event last season in a division that saw 12 different race winners in 13 events at Beech Ridge. (more…)
The Northeast Mini Stock Tour made its one and only appearance this year in Maine at the Wiscasset Speedway last Saturday night. Under the bright lights, thirty-one cars raced in an action packed fifty lap feature.
Starting the lineup were heat winners Mike Mason in an Acura Integra No. 51, the No. 33 driven by Matt Sonnhalter, and Shawn Swallow driving the No. 04. In what proved to be a close-quarter race, leader changes at the start were swift. Sonnhalter drifted back in the pack. Car No. 53 driven by Glen Thomas wove through traffic and took second place, George Fortin in his No. 9. advanced from sixth place to third. (more…)
