The 67th season of Action is ready to kick into high gear at The Action Track of the East, with 2 days of events. On Saturday, Seekonk Speedway presents the second annual Show and Go, a Classic Car Show and Burn Out Drag Races, presented with Kraze Korlacki Speed Equipment. With over 30 classes of cars scheduled for judging by the Mass Cruisers, hundreds of cars are expected to be on hand. In addition to the show, those that are brave enough will have the chance to compete in the Burn Out Drags, which will be held on the 1/3 mile oval. There is a $10 registration for the cars to compete in the Show and Go. Gates open at 8am, judging starts at 9, and the Burn Out Drags happen at 1pm.
While the Show and Go is happening in the main parking lot, the competitors will be gearing up for Sundays Opening Day with their final pre-season practice session. This is the final opportunity for competitors from Seekonk, and touring divisions that will be competing at Seekonk, to get ready for their season. Pit gates open at 9am for competitors, and rookies hit the track at 10. There is no charge to watch the practice session through the main gate, and to enjoy the Show and Go.

Moultonboro, NH – The Lakes Region Ice Racing Club gathered at the
Moultonboro Lion’s Club to celebrate the 2012 ice racing season. The
evening started with a social hour with appetizers, beverages, and
lots of stories about this year’s 5 ice races. The social time was
followed by a fantastic roast pork dinner with all the fixins prepared
by Mel Martel. With the preliminary socializing and eating out of the
way, club patriarch and long time ice and dirt racer Jack Cook MC’d
the various raffles and recognitions portion of the evening.

As the winter doldrums shake off, the staff and management are gearing up to open the gates for the 2012 season for the first time on Saturday, April 7th.
The first event of the day will be the first ever Seekonk Speedway Easter Egg Hunt. The hunt is open for all kids under 12. The gates swing open at 8:30, with the hunt beginning at 9am, and ending at 10.
The first practice of the season for Seekonk competitors and others will follow. The gates for the competitors opens at 9am, with rookies hitting the track first at 11am. Competitors from Seekonk, various touring divisions and other tracks in the region are all welcome to take their turn on the 1/3 mile oval, to get ready for their season. With the Nick’s Pit Stop Legend Series coming aboard for 2012, this is a perfect opportunity to get some laps on a track many will be unfamiliar with. (more…)

Over 66 years of action, the Seekonk Speedway has seen many types of competition. From their weekly racing, thrill shows, Car Polo, Rollover contests, Ostrich races, and football. On Saturday, April 7th, you can add Easter Egg Hunt to the long list of activities.
The 1st ever Seekonk Speedway Easter Egg Hunt will begin at 9am, before any cars have a chance to tackle the 1/3 mile oval. It is open to all fans under the age of 12.

Haverhill, MA – – Salem, NH., native, Jim Bird, a long-time area auto
racing fabricator and crew member was seriously injured recently in a
motor vehicle in Mooresville, N.C. Bird was riding a scooter home from
work when struck by a motor vehicle in a city intersection on January 30.
Bird was transported to a Charlotte Hospital where he was treated for
multiple injuries including a shattered left hip, broken left femur, broken ribs,
serious facial lacerations and mild brain swelling.
