456Randy Cabral is a one man thrill show. He didn’t disappoint the fans at Oswego Speedway on Sunday night with his demonstration of driving skills and speed on the way to his fifth win of the season.

Cabral of Kingston, MA tracked down Mendon, MA driver John Zych and passed him on the final turn to win the 25 lap NEMA midget feature, part of the Race Of Champions Weekend at Oswego. The midgets had waited over 24 hours to run their event, after being rained out on Saturday. They ran an abbreviated program without heats and only one round of practice.

332The starting field for the 6th annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) on Saturday, September 20, 2014 has been set. The sixth edition of the event will have the American Canadian Tour (ACT) introducing fans to a promising future for regional Late Model short track stock car racing. Veteran champions and former NHMS winners Eddie MacDonald, Rowley, MA; Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. (Pole), Hudson, NH; Ray Parent, Tiverton, RI; and Brian Hoar, Williston, VT have all won events at the “Magic Mile”. This year there are lots of young emerging stars who will challenge the veterans.

Sometimes it is better to be lucky than good and sometimes a driver can be both.

Justin Bonsignore was just that as he was able to miss the late accidents that collected some of the lead pack cars and hold off a strong challenge by Matt Hirschman on a green-white-checkered finish to win the Budweiser King of Beers 150 at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park.

It was the second consecutive NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour win for the Holtsville, New York native at Thompson and his third of the season. Doug Coby followed Hirschman in third with Ryan Preece and Ron Silk completing the top five.

Waterford Speedbowl was back Wednesday evening with another Wild ‘n Wacky motorsports program. Four race winners reached Victory Lane, with Mitch Bombard of Willimantic leading the way
with an extra-distance X-Car victory. Mike Christopher Jr. of Wolcott continued his dominance in the INEX Legend Cars, Anthony Marvin of Colchester won the INEX Bandolero feature and Dave Yardley of Berlin closed the night with a win in the Super X-Cars.
Since Stafford Motor Speedway instituted its SK Light Modified class in 2006, the division has seen a fair share of rookie drivers find success by not only winning feature events, but championships as well. The 2014 season has seen another great crop of rookie drivers and Taunton, MA native Branden Dion has quietly made himself a championship contender by finishing all but one of the 10 SK Light features thusfar in the top-9. After his only finish outside of the top-10 back on May 2nd, Dion has climbed his way from 13thin the points standings to his current position of third in the standings, 42 points behind leader Jeremy Sorel.
After winning 71 times at Stafford Motor Speedway in weekly competition, there was never any doubt that Woody Pitkat knew his way around his home track. Now Pitkat can add a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour win to his résumé.

Waterford Speedbowl returned to racing after the week’s early rain and got another Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday racing program into the record books. Dan Moon of Exeter, RI was a first-time
winner on the year in Super X-Car action to lead the way. Mike Christopher Jr. of Wolcott continued his hot streak in the INEX Legend Cars, Ken Morin Jr. of Old Saybrook won an INEX Bandolero feature that went down to the wire, and Rich Nye of Stonington was impressive in
winning the evening’s X-Car feature. Charlie Wilcox outdueled Art Chartier in the Vintage Outlaw Modified exhibition race and Peter Pollard mof Old Lyme won the night’s Wacky Race.

Waterford Speedbowl has announced further details for its Charlie Mitchell Memorial event as part of the track’s Nostalgia Night program July 26. Hall of Famer Don LaJoie will serve as
Grand Marshall for that night’s memorial race, the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified® feature. In addition, Mitchell’s three sons, Chuck, Jimmy, and Dennis, will serve as honorary starters. A commemorative trophy will be presented to the night’s race winner in honor
of Mitchell.

Due to rainy weather conditions, Stafford Motor Speedway has canceled its Summer Blast-Off program that was scheduled for Friday, June 13th. With the Summer Blast-Off becoming the fourth rain out of the 2014 season, Stafford Motor Speedway has added Friday, September 19 to its 2014 event schedule. The DARE Stock Xtra Mart Xtra D feature that was originally scheduled as part of tonight’s Summer Blast-Off program will move to next Friday’s Town Fair Tire VMRS 80 program and the fireworks will move to Friday, July 11th. The Limited Late Model Xtra D feature will be moved to Friday, June 27th.

The 2014 edition of the Oxford 250 just received the entry blank from the legendary Steve Park who will be bringing his G Body Parts, Sunoco, Super Late Model to compete in this year’s mega event at Oxford Plains Speedway. Park, a two time Sprint Cup Series winner became the 45th entrant for the race scheduled for Sunday, July 20, 2014 at 2pm.
