Boscawen, NH, next stop for East Coast Snocross series,

CHESHIRE, Conn. (Feb. 8, 2012) – In the 20-year history of sanctioned snocross racing here in New England, the Granite State of New Hampshire has played host to some of the sport’s best shows.

Thanks to a dedicated snow-making effort during this nearly snowless winter, that wonderful tradition continues, as East Coast Snocross (ECS) gets set for Round 4 this Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 11-12, in beautiful Boscawen, New Hampshire. The event, presented by Banks Chevrolet and billed as the New England Sledfest, is being held on a large piece of land just off Exit 17 off Interstate 93.

CANAAN DIRT SPEEDWAY READIES FOR GIANT JULY 3RD SPECTACULAR

The roar of engines will be coming alive on Tuesday night, July 3rd with the running of the Miller Auto Group, Noise “R” Us Fireworks, 4th of July Spectacular. This gigantic special event will feature a $1,000 to win Twin 20’s, Modified event, along with the ScoNE 360 Sprint Cars, Super Streets, a Bomber Enduro, plus a wild and wacky chain race. The evenings’ activities will end with a giant fireworks display courtesy of Noise “R” Us Fireworks of Newport, New Hampshire.

Ted Christopher opens Northeast racing season with win

Former NASCAR modified champion Ted Christopher opened the 2012 auto racing season with a win in Friday’s preliminary night action at the 10th annual Gambler’s Classic inside Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall.

Christopher outran Joe Payne Jr. in the 30-lap three-quarter midget feature that headlined the event.

Looking to become the first three-time winner of the Classic, Christopher was eliminated early in Saturday night’s 40-lap finale. (more…)

Canadian Dan Brown preps for 2012 Airborne Modified season

Dan Brown of Sutton, QC, plans a full Airborne Speedway 358 DIRTcar Modified schedule in 2012. He ran a part-time Airborne schedule in 2010, nearly a full schedule in 2011 despite some motor issues He’s purchased a Bicknell chassis, added a new sponsor and is working out an engine deal with (Yves) Lafrance Performance.

The competition is intense in Airborne’s DIRTcar 358 Modified division. The average starting field for a Ernie’s Discount Tools Modified feature in 2011 was 29 cars – most of which were separated by four-tenths of a second or less. Top-10 finishes were worthy of respect each and every week. Any race program not working hard to move forward can end up in the other direction.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway Purses Approach Quarter-Million Dollar Mark

Drivers in four divisions racing for more than $13,000 each week

WEST HAVEN, VT — Nearly one-quarter of a million dollars is up for grabs for stock car drivers competing at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in 2012. Weekly purses in the track’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Modified, Late Model, Renegade, and Bomber divisions will total more than $242,000 through 18 scheduled events from May to September.

The headline Modified division, which will combine traditional 358-cubic inch engines with modern General Motors “602” crate motors for the first time in 2012, will see a minimum of $1,000 awarded to the winner of each regular 35-lap feature event. The runner-up will receive $600, the tenth-place finisher will win $200, and all drivers qualifying for the 24-car starting grid will be guaranteed at least $125. Total posted weekly purses for the Modified class will be just shy of $6,000.
