NASCAR WHELEN MODIFIED TOUR COMES TO STAFFORD SPEEDWAY FOR 21ST ANNUAL TOWN FAIR TIRE 150

(Stafford Springs, CT)—NASCAR’s Whelen Modified Tour comes to Stafford
Motor Speedway this Friday, August 5th for 21st Annual Town Fair Tire 150,
which will be the third of four visits the tour will make to Stafford in
2011. The race is presented to race fans by Town Fair Tire and its over 84
locations throughout the Northeast. The 21st Annual Town Fair Tire 150 will
feature the stars and cars of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour as well as
Stafford Speedway’s five NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing divisions.
Last year’s Town Fair Tire 150 saw two former Whelen Modified Tour champions
dueling for the victory with 2003 champ Todd Szegedy beating 7-time champ
Mike Stefanik to the checkered flag.

ANDREW CROSBY SCORES LITTLE ENDURO WIN AT 95

Andrew Crosby of Hermon won the battle in the Little Enduros at Speedway 95 Wednesday night when he passed pole sitter Travis Beale of Hampden on lap 23 of the caution free 25 lap series race, and went on to post his first win of the season in the division. Darren Durrell of Newburgh also worked his way past Beale on lap 23 to finish second, with Beale finishing third. Ted Ryder of Carmel was fourth and Garret Hayman of Milford came in fifth. Beale was the overall winner of the three race series, and admitted in his post race interview that he was points racing to win the series title, which is why he didn’t challenge Crosby and Durrell when they passed him with two laps to go.

Drivers Start Your Engines!!!

This past weekend the drivers returned to the race track, and with names like Benjamin, Rowe, and Lachance, driving as fast as they could go. But it is not quite what you think, this is the next generation of drivers Kaleb Benjamin, Noah Lachance, Gunnar Rowe, and Braxton Rowe as they race in the kart series at Richmond Karting Speedway (RKS).

Grenier nabs first win of 2011 at Thunder Road

BARRE, Vt. — All summer long, he charged through the field and ran among the leaders on several occasions. Yet each week, he came up just short. This time around, he finally had what it took to seal the deal.

Chip Grenier managed to fend off the challenges of Grant Folsom and powered his way to victory in the 50-lap Safelite Auto Trophy Dash Thursday night at the famed Thunder Road International Speedbowl. (more…)

Battle between Donahue and Pembroke revs up this week

BARRE, Vt. — The season-long battle for supremacy between Thunder Road mainstays John Donahue and David Pembroke gets intense this Thursday, as the two central Vermont drivers sit tied atop the standings with just three points races remaining.

Donahue, of Graniteville (who didn’t even start racing until he was 26, hence his car number), got his 2011 season off to a great start back in May with a victory in the Memorial Day Classic. He carried that momentum into summer with a victory in the prestigious Vermont Governor’s Cup in June, then added a 50-lap weekly feature win on July 21.
