This Victory Is Solid as a (Lime) Rock SunTrust’s Angelelli, Taylor Dominate Memorial Day Classic for Second Year in a Row

Location: Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Conn. (1.5-mile, seven-turn road course)
Start/Finish: 1st / 1st (Running, completed 183 of 183 laps)
Winners: Max Angelelli and Ricky Taylor of SunTrust Racing (Chevrolet)
Is it possible time has stood still in the lush, green hills of northwest Connecticut since Memorial Day 2010? That was when the SunTrust Racing driving duo of Max Angelelli and Ricky Taylor previously visited Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Conn., and scored their first GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series victory of the season in dominating fashion by leading three times for a race-high 95 of 174 laps.
Monday, it was déjà vu all over again, in the words of the immortal Yogi Berra, as Angelelli and Taylor made it look easy, once again, in scoring their second consecutive Memorial Day Classic victory at Lime Rock in even more convincing fashion, starting from the pole and leading three times for 153 of 183 race laps.

Hudson NH –The Outlaws made their first appearance of the 2011 racing season with defending Outlaws Champion Geoff Rollins picking up the first feature win. Ricky Woodside Jr. held the top spot early in the race before relinquishing it to Ron Lord. Lord held on for a few laps until Rollins chased him down. Rollins spent a lap or two on the high side of Lord, slipped past and wasn’t challenged from that point on.
Fourteen year old Derek Griffith from Hudson N.H. had a fantastic run going until trouble found him. Griffith started last in the field in his first ever Outlaw feature and made his way all the way up to second before a cut tire put him into the wall bringing out the only caution of the race in the closing laps.

Star Speedway Modifieds Feature Start and Finish 5/28/2011
Joey Polewarczyk Jr. Comes away with a 6th place finish at Thunder Road.
Barre, VT – American-Canadian Tour Late Model Driver, #97 Joey Polewarczyk Jr finishes in 6th place in the 49th Annual Memorial Day Classic at the “Nations site of excitement,” Thunder Road
Speedbowl.
Polewarczyk narrowly missed qualifying through his heat race and started on the pole for his Consolation race. He ended up taking the checkered flag in the event, which ensure a starting spot in the 27-car field.

Barre, VT – Graniteville’s John Donahue and Bradford’s Derrick O’Donnell claimed wins in Mekkelsen RV Memorial Classic doubleheader at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT on Sunday, May 29. Donahue, a former Milk Bowl champion and four time winner at Thunder Road in 2010, claimed the Late Model 100 lap feature win.
Donahue fought his way past Middlesex’s Dave Pembroke in a battle of two Fords on lap 33. The two battled hard for the first 32 laps with Donahue trying everything he could to get by leader Pembroke before finally gaining the edge. Donahue would lead the rest of the way for the most part uncontested.
