Buffington Takes Vintage Celebration Win

The Amsoil Nelcar Legends Tour took a right turn this weekend as 16 of the best Legends drivers in the Northeast competed on the 1.6 mile road course at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The first of two road course races for the tour came during the popular 21st Annual Vintage Celebration week at NHMS. While the drivers were used to only making left turns, the added challenge of turning right, and the over 100 mph speeds, made it a very exciting race.

Unstoppable

The NELCAR Legends returned to NHMS to run the road course for the 1st time this season. Shaun Buffington, seems to be unstoppable this season, with 2 wins on the oval course at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, one win at Seekonk Speedbowl, and his most recent win this past weekend, on the road course at NHMS as he took the checkered flag for the fourth time this season.

Airborne hosts Asphalt Modified Series

South Plattsburgh – The Race of Champions (RoC) Asphalt Modified Series will make its first ever appearance at Airborne Speedway Saturday, June 4, one week after its 2011 schedule begins at Oswego Speedway.

Teams entered in the Della Auto Group 100 include defending RoC champion Matt Hirschman of Northampton, PA, Chuck Hossfeld of Ransomville, NY, Pete Brittain of Allentown, PA, Daren Scherer of Binghamton, NY and Erick Rudolph of Ransomville, NY.

Hudson Speedway Race Report for May 22nd 2011

Hudson NH –Hudson Speedway opened its doors for its 64th consecutive season of auto racing this past Sunday May 22nd with Billy Clement Jr., Justin Beecher, and Johnny Reefer all finding their way to victory lane.

Bob Riopelle had the pole position and took the lead at the drop the green flag of the Rookie Stock feature and held the top spot for the first few laps. Clement Jr. made his way up from the third starting spot to challenge Riopelle for the lead and took to the outside groove and made the pass for the lead a lap later. Clement held the top spot from that point until the finish in the caution free event. Riopelle held off several challenges and came home second. John Morin Jr. also had a podium finish coming in third place. Dan Murphy Jr. had a bumpy fourth place finish and Corrie Merritt finished fifth. After Merritt it was Jerry ‘No Brakes’ Lepage, Scotty Duval, Bill Fiske, Jim Junior, Keith ‘Slika’ Ennis, C.J. McLaughlin, Mike McHugh and Ryan Joyce.

PENALTIES ANNOUNCED FROM MAY 20TH NASCAR WHELEN ALL-AMERICAN SERIES PROGRAM AT STAFFORD

(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Motor Speedway has announced the following
penalties following the running of the May 20 NASCAR Whelen All-American
Series feature events.

Woody Pitkat, driver of the No. 88 Late Model, and Ryan Posocco, driver of
the No. 48 Late Model, have been penalized for a rules violation committed

TWO BIG NIGHTS AT THOMPSON INT’L SPEEDWAY THIS WEEK

THOMPSON, CT. High speed, high tech competitive NASCAR racing to demolition and destruction are on this week’s menu at the Thompson International Speedway. Thursday Night Thompson Thunder with NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing is the Thursday night attraction. Sunday night the track changes gears and presents the annual Memorial Day weekend Eve of Destruction.

Thursday night’s racing spotlight will be on the XTRA/MART Limited Sportsman division. Race teams in this division will compete in their longest race of the season. This 40-lap dash is the race of the season for the XTRA/MART Limited Sportsman. The extra money and the prestige of winning this event is an accomplishment that stays with a driver and his team all season long. A similar extra distance race is slated for the Sunoco Modifieds, Super Late Models, Thompson Modifieds, Late Models and Monster Minis during the 2011 racing season. Grandstands open at 4 PM and races start at 6:15 PM.
