RPM Motorsports has announced that former American-Canadian Tour (ACT) standout Scott Payea will join the team for the 2016 ACT Tour season. Milton, VT’s Payea returns after two years off from racing to compete for the Tour championship behind the wheel of the RPM Racing Engines Ford with car owner and crew chief Rick Paya.
Payea previously competed on the ACT Tour for six seasons beginning in 2005. He was the ACT Rookie of the Year in 2005 and finished runner-up in points for three straight years from 2007-2009, losing the 2008 championship to Patrick Laperle by a single point. Payea also won five Tour events, including two victories in the Merchants Bank 150 at Barre, VT’s Thunder Road as well as wins at White Mountain Motorsports Park, Waterford Speedbowl, and Airborne Park Speedway.

Bonus Money on the Table for Bond Auto New Champions at NHMS
Waterbury, VT – American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model drivers from seven U.S. states and the Canadian province of Quebec will vie for pride, glory, and a guaranteed $7,500 first-place prize when they visit New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) for the 7th Annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational on Saturday, September 26. But a little extra will be on the table for members of the Bond Auto New Champions program.
As part of their sponsorship of both the 50-lap Invitational and the New Champions, Bond Auto Parts has posted $2,500 in awards for New Champions–eligible drivers participating in the Invitational on the 1.058-mile oval. The top-five finishing New Champions drivers who have competed in at least five ACT-sanctioned events this season prior to the Invitational will each receive a $500 bonus.

Williamstown, VT’s Jimmy Hebert has filed the first official entry for the 53rd Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl on Sunday, October 11. The 2015 edition of the “toughest short-track stock car race in North America” has more than $60,000 in posted awards with $10,000 guaranteed to the winner of the annual Thunder Road Speedbowl season finale.
The Milk Bowl is one of the most celebrated auto racing events in the United States with its unique race format and tradition. The special event for American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Models is run in three 50-lap segments, with the starting grid for the second and third segments set by inverting the finishing order of the previous segment. Drivers receive one point per position, per segment, with the lowest combined finish for all three segments earning the overall win.

Jimmy Ryan kicked off the Mekkelsen RV Vermont 200 Championship Weekend with a long awaited checkered flag on “Shootout Saturday” at Devil’s Bowl Speedway. Ryan led a parade of stock car drivers through victory lane in a series of bonus races following first-round qualifying for the annual year-end asphalt championship event. The main events will be run on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
Ryan’s win came in a special 10-lap shootout for non-feature winners in the Bond Auto Parts Modified division. The veteran from Whiting, VT fought off an early challenge from Billy Lussier before stretching out his lead and taking the win, which came just two weeks after getting his car upside down.

NEW ENGLAND MOTORSPORTS NORTH FOR SEPT 10TH 2015

This past Saturday there was a full venue of racing at high bank ¼ mile of Monadnock Speedway. The evening’s winners included Bill Kimball, Joel Monahan, Solomon Brow, Tim Leblanc and Dan Starkweather for the weekly racing divisions. In the visiting NEMA tour, Joey Payne took the checkers as Megan Cuginl won the NEMA Lite feature event.
Jaret Curtis paced the field in the Young Guns for their feature event. By lap seven, Dan Starkweather took control of the number one spot as Jaret Curtis held off brother Chase Curtis for second. Cole Littlewood running in fourth started to reel in Curtis for third. With two laps to go, Chase Curtis and Littlewood make contact setting up for a two lap shoot out. On the final lap, Starkweather cruised into victory lane followed by Jaret Curtis and Littlewood making a late pass on Hailey Guy for third.

Bobby Hackel brought the house down in a thrilling finish on The Dirt Track at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Sunday, August 30. The 20 year-old from Rensselaer, NY overcame every challenge thrown his way, fending off two of the northeast’s hottest stock car drivers in Kenny Tremont Jr. and Adam Pierson. Hackel’s win came in the third event of the Berlin Optical Expressions Dirt Track Series n Interstate All Battery Center/Sherwin-Williams Night.
Hackel, whose last win at Devil’s Bowl came on the asphalt half-mile in July 2011, turned a season’s worth of struggles around with an impressive and popular performance in the 35-lap Liberty Street Discount Beverage & Deli Sportsman Modified race. He held off East Corinth, VT racer Pierson and West Sand Lake, NY’s Tremont over a series of six restarts; Tremont tested Hackel in the final five laps and made an inside-lane charge in the last corner of the race, but Hackel won the drag race to the checkered flag by three feet.
