Shaun Buffington, driver of the 23 legend car has won his 5th straight race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS). Sunday morning prior to the NASCAR Sprint Cup race the NELCAR Legends took to the track to race on the 1/4 Mini Magic Mile.

The racing line up was set by qualifying practice time, Shaun’s teammate Tom Gray took the pole for the feature event. After qualifying the 23 team just made one adjustment to the car, Shaun said, “the carburetors were a little flat I think we had to much jet in it, so we changed carburetors for the feature. The track was greasy probably because of the heat, but it was loose for everybody so it was even.”

Chevrolet Extends Lead in Manufacturers’ Cup Standings

LOUDON, N.H. (July 17, 2011) – Ryan Newman was truly “Rocketman” behind the wheel of his No. 39 U.S. Army Chevrolet today at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He started on the pole, led a race-high 119 out of 301 laps and was in front of his Stewart-Haas Racing team owner and teammate Tony Stewart, No. 14 Office Depot/Mobil 1 Chevrolet as the closing laps of the race clicked off.

But, it wasn’t as easy as it sounds as crew chief Tony Gibson told him they were very close on fuel and to save as much as he could and hope there was no green-white-checkered finish in their future. (more…)

Ryan Newman is Two-for-Two at NHMS

LOUDON, N.H. (July 17, 2011) -Ryan Newman only saw the view from the front at New Hampshire Motor Speedway this weekend, capturing the checkered flag in both the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series LENOX Industrial Tools 301 and the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour F.W. Webb 100.

Behind the wheel of his No. 39 U.S. Army Chevrolet, it was a history making day for Newman; no NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver has started and won from the pole position in two races on the same weekend at NHMS.
