Buffington Continues Dominance, Wins at NHMS

The Amsoil Nelcar Legends Tour was back in the granite state this past weekend, at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The last time the tour showed at the quarter mile, it was Shaun Buffington who dominated the event and took home the checkered flag. If Buffington wanted to continue his dominance, he’d have to beat out some of the best Legends Cars drivers in the North East.

New Hampshire Motor Speedway General Manager Stars in NECN’s “The Boss”

LOUDON, N.H. (May 16, 2011) – New Hampshire Motor Speedway executive vice president and general manager Jerry Gappens will be featured on New England Cable News’ new TV show series “The Boss,” tonight, beginning at 8 p.m.

New England race fans can get a glimpse of what it is like to walk a “Magic Mile” in Gappens shoes during the episode, which was filmed at the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series SYLVANIA 300 last September.

Vintage Racing Returns to New Hampshire Motor Speedway May 17-22

LOUDON, N.H. (May 11) – Step back in time at New Hampshire Motor Speedway May 17-22 as thousands of legendary racing vehicles from around the world compete during the 21st annual Vintage Racing Celebration.

On Tuesday, May 17, through Thursday, May 19, take in the sights and sounds of racing as it was during the early years. This historically significant race field will take on the 1.058 “Magic Mile” oval, featuring vintage midgets, sprint cars, champ cars, roadsters, NASCAR stock cars and even Indy cars.

Taylor Martin – Teen Spirit

Taylor Martin is one of the new drivers racing in NELCAR this season. Racing in the legends season opener at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS), Taylor finished the race in 15th place but she did make history as the very 1st female driver in NELCAR history and at age 13 to boot.

The NELCAR rules on age “The minimum age for Legends competition is fourteen (14). Twelve-year-olds and thirteen-year-olds may be allowed to compete if they have completed 18 months of documented, INEX Sanctioned, Bandolero racing, with a minimum of forty five (45) races total over this 18-month period.”

Formula Hybrid Finishes Up at NHMS

Thirty teams from around the world wrapped up the fifth annual Formula Hybrid competition at New Hampshire Motor Speedway yesterday, with Texas A&M University dominating the three-day event.

Led by team advisor Dr. Make McDermott, Texas A&M were victorious in two of the four events including the acceleration and autocross contests.

Brigham Young University took home second place, winning the presentation and endurance segments of the competition.
