American Racer Tire Choice of ACT Through 2019

ACT American Canadian TourWaterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) has announced that its tire of choice for the next six (6) years will be the American Racer brand from Race Tires America, located in Indiana, Pennsylvania. ACT and its affiliate tracks will change tire needs from Goodyear to the American Racer beginning with the 2014 season.

“We appreciate the many years of working with the Goodyear Racing Division. They have provided us with nearly a decade of service, and assisted us in the development of new products to meet our tire needs,” said Tom Curley, President of the American Canadian Tour.

American Race Tire has spent the past four months producing and testing a tire to meet the varied and heavy demand of supplying the Late Model teams in the large area which ACT covers.

THE STORY

Taylor Martin of Windham, N.H., will make history when she participates in the 5th annual Bond Auto ACT Late Model Tour Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, N.H., on Saturday, September 21. Martin will be making her first career start on the 1.058-mile oval as part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Sylvania 300, and the 16-year-old driver will become the first to compete in two invitation-only events on the same day at the facility. Martin will also make a start in the Gifford’s Ice Cream 25 for the Granite State Legends Cars Series following the ACT Invitational. Martin was one of 34 Late Model drivers to test at New Hampshire last month, earning her an at-large bid to the event.

Nick Sweet Invited to Bond Auto ACT Invitational

image003Waterbury, VT – Nick Sweet from Barre, VT capped off his Vermont State Championship title win at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway, in Fair Haven, VT on Sunday, September 15, 2013 with an invitation to the 5th Annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) today. Sweet will replace Donald Theetge of Quebec City who had to cancel his invitation because of a business conflict.

Sweet, a two-time Thunder Road Champion, had previously been invited, but after five weeks of testing the new tires for the 2014 ACT season, he decided that he needed to take an ‘off weekend’ to prepare his car for the season finale People’s Bank Milk Bowl event held at Thunder Road, October 5-6.

Jonathan Bouvrette Earns First Série ACT Victory in St-Eustache 200

St-Eustache, QC – Jonathan Bouvrette of Blainville, QC won the St-Eustache 200 at Autodrome St-Eustache on Sunday, September 15 in dominant fashion. He led well over half the race on his way to his first career Série ACT victory in the 2013 season finale. Jean-François Déry followed him across the line in second to claim the 2013 Série ACT Championship and a $20,000 point fund check.

Déry ran a smart and clean race to come home second and claim the 2013 Série ACT Championship by unofficially eight points. The Série ACT veteran used two victories during the season to secure his first career Série ACT title.

Dany Trepanier of St-Edouard, QC led in the early stages of the event until the suspension on his right front broke sending him into the wall in turns three and four on lap 58. That handed the lead to Bouvrette, who didn’t relinquish the top spot until the fourth caution flag of the event flew on lap 114. Under the caution period Bouvrette and the majority of the field headed to pit road for two fresh tires.

Jean-François Déry Pads Point Lead

St-Eustache, QC – Patrick Laperle of St-Denis, QC claimed the St-Eustache 100 win in front of his hometown crowd at Autodrome St-Eustache on Saturday, September 14. The 100-lap event was originally scheduled for June 1 but was postponed twice due to rain before being scheduled as the first leg of a doubleheader weekend. Jean-François Déry of Quebec City took second position and strengthened his point lead heading into tomorrow’s 200-lap finale at St-Eustache.

Second place point man Alex Labbe of St-Albert, QC led early in the event before fading backwards in the middle stages of the event. Donald Theetge stole the lead from Labbe until contact on a lap 15 restart sent him spinning in turn one. Jonathan Bouvrette edged Labbe on the ensuing restart and appeared to be the fastest car on the track until Déry got by him while the two worked through lapped traffic.

Field Set for 5th Annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational Announced

The 43-car field for the 5th Annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway has been announced. The biggest names in American Canadian Tour Late Models will be on hand for the event on Saturday, September 21.

The field will be led by twelve drivers who have won an Invitational qualifier event. A strong contingent from New Hampshire includes Wayne Helliwell, Jr. and Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. Vermont drivers Brian Hoar, Jimmy Hebert, Bobby Therrien and Cody Blake claimed qualifier wins. From north of the border, Quebecer’s Jean-François Déry, Alex Labbe, Donald Theetge, Dany Trepanier have all won qualifying events. Travis Stearns of Maine and Eddie MacDonald of Massachusetts complete the 12 Invitational Qualifier winners.
