Joey Pole made history on September 14, adding name to the impressive list of winners for the Granite State Pro Stock Series on Saturday, and also by winning the final race at the 1/3 mile banked oval. 28 cars attempted to qualify for this historic event, with 22 taking the green flag.
2012 Canaan Pro Stock Champion Jeremy Davis, winner of the May 4th event, led the field down to the green, but the caution came out before the first lap could be completed, setting a tone for the event. By the time the race was 10 laps in, four cars had already retired from the event. Pole and Davis took time leading the race with Davis leading all but the opening two cirsuits.
At the lap 25 mark, Davis continued to hold on with Pole second, Matt Frahm third, Bobby Baillargeon fourth and Larry Gelinas fifth. The seventh caution of the affair came out on the 34th lap for Wayne Heliwell Sr. Another handful of cautions slowed up the event by the halfway point. By this time, Pole had re-taken the lead over Davis, Gelinas, Davis and Frahm.

Canaan 100 This Saturday Night!
Canaan NH – It is with mixed emotions that the Granite State Pro Stock Series rolls into the Canaan Fair Speedway this Saturday night. When the Checkered Flag falls on the 100 lap main event it will be the final one that will wave at this speedway, As the Speedway has been sold and no racing is planed in the future. “There is a lot of buzz for this event from all the divisions that are competing” stated series president Mike Parks. The GSPSS will compete in a 100 Lap main event, According to series Race director Josh Vanada we are looking at what could be our largest field to date. (more…)

For many of the competitors on the Granite State Pro Stock Series, Saturday, September 14 will be a surreal day for them. It is the next stop on the 2013 schedule for the Granite State Pro Stocks, one that will have major point championship implications.
But more than that, drivers like Jeremy Davis, Zig Gino, Donnie Lashua among many others have spent time in Canaan Fair Speedway Victory Lane. Davis, Gino and Lashua have been honored as champions there as well; Davis will go down as the final Pro Stock champion at the 1/3 mile oval.
Jeremy Davis comes into Canaan Fair Speedway as the most recent winner there from the Granite State Pro Stocks, picking up the win on May 4th, the second event on the schedule. Lashua is the defending winner of this late summer classic, charging to the win on September 16, 2013. This time, for both of these, and many others, it’s personal.

On Saturday night September 7th, the Granite State Pro Stock Series will invade the high banked ¼ mile of the Riverside Speedway in Groveton NH. This will mark the first visit to Riverside for the GSPSS. “We are looking forward to bringing Pro Stock/Super Late Model racing back to Riverside”, stated series president Mike Parks A limited number of teams have turned laps on the ¼ mile but all and all it will be a first for 90% of the teams. Current point leader Jeremy Davis hopes to turn his recent string of bad luck around, Davis holds a slim 7 point lead over defending Thompson Speedway champion Mike O’Sullivan. As with Davis, O’Sullivan has struggled over the last couple of events. Third place point man Matt Frahm has been on a roll over the last few events and has turned the most laps on the ¼ mile oval, Frahm is one of the favorites for the event. Rounding out the top 5 in the point standings is former Oxford 250 champion Larry Gelinas and longtime Pro Stock competitor Mike Parks. The GSPSS is coming off very successful events at Both Star Speedway where PASS invader DJ Shaw nailed down the win, and Hudson Speedway where Bobby Baillargeon took the win over 2012 Rookie of the year 15 year old Derek Griffith. There are three events left on the GSPSS schedule, after Riverside it’s off to the Cannan Fair Speedway on Sat September 14th for the last event ever to be hosted at the speedway. Than the GSPSS will crown the 2013 series champion at the Thompson Speedway during the annual World Series in October. Kingston NH’s Bobby Baillargeon led all but lap 2 on his way to his second consecutive Hudson Hugger win. Hudson’s Derek Griffith and Baillargeon brought the 21 field car down to the green, and the pair raced wheel to wheel for the first few laps, swapping the lead back and forth, before Bobby was able to close the door for the top spot. Barry Gray, Jimmy Renfrew and Mike O’Sullivan rounded out the top five on the opening laps.
The first caution came out on the 21st circuit when Eric Sands spun in the fourth corner. Austin Brehio made slight contact, but went to the pits for repairs. It was three laps later when the second yellow flew when the points leader Jeremy Davis, Jake Vanada and Mike O’Sullivan got together in turn three.
