DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 8, 2015) –When Bill Elliott climbed into his Ford on a late-winter afternoon in 1976, little did fans at North Carolina Motor Speedway know they were witnessing the birth of a NASCAR Hall of Fame career.
The 20-year-old Elliott, whose car was fielded by his father George and crewed by brothers Ernie and Dan, didn’t last long in his NASCAR premier series debut. Engine problems sidelined the Elliotts early for a finish of 33rd in the 36-car field.

Parent Returns to New Smyrna World Series of Asphalt Racing
Waterbury, VT –In 2011, Ray Parent from Tiverton, Rhode Island, decided to start his full-time American Canadian Tour (ACT) career at the inaugural event to be held at the New Smyrna Speedway (NSS) during the World Series of Asphalt Racing in February of that year. Parent had raced primarily at the famous D.A. Vendetti “Cement Palace”, Seekonk Speedway, a typical ¼ mile bullring that New England racing is known for.
Parent had been successful racing in what was known as a Pro Stock (Super Late Model) race car for years in the southern New England market. The ACT Late Model program, with its innovative cost-conscience crate motors, sealed Koni shock absorbers, and 8” restricted tire usage program, had booked a winter race at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida during the February race activities in the Daytona Beach area. Parent decided it was time for a change with his Amtrol sponsored race team.

PASS To Offer Dual Championships For Northern SLM Competitors In 2015; 4 PASS National Races Announced
NAPLES, ME (December 15) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials announced today a unique championship format that will be awarded to Northeastern and Canadian Super Late Model competitors in 2015. PASS Super Late Model competitors will have the opportunity to race for an overall PASS North championship, which will encompass all 16 events on the 2015 schedule, or the PASS Northeast Super Late Model championship, which will only include the 12 events scheduled in New England.
“Allowing our racers the option to compete for the overall PASS North championship or the new PASS Northeast Super Late Model championship is a big step forward for the series,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “This will allow racers who don’t have the funds or time to compete in the Canadian events a chance to still race for a championship. Likewise, the 2015 PASS North titlist will truly be able to call himself short track racing’s international champion.”
