AVONDALE, Ariz. (Nov. 9, 2014) – Kevin Harvick dominated the Quicken Loans Race for Heroes 500 at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) and collected his fourth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) win of the season. It was the 13th time that Team Chevy captured the top two finishing positions this year. Harvick’s win also marks the 19th victory for Chevrolet in 2014.
In dominating fashion, Harvick led 264 of the 312-lap race to earn back-to-back wins at PIR for the second time in his NSCS career. He also swept the races at the 1.0-mile track in 2006. The victory advances the driver of the No. 4 Chevrolet SS to the ‘Championship’ round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

VONDALE, Ariz. (Nov. 9, 2014) – Martin Truex Jr. came home with a 12th-place finish in Sunday’s Sprint Cup Series race at Phoenix International Raceway. But the Furniture Row Racing driver felt the final result could have been much better had it not been for an incident on Lap 213 of 312.
While running in the top-five, Truex’s left-rear fender took a hit by the No. 18 car (Kyle Busch) during a restart at the 1-mile oval. The accident brought out the yellow flag first and then a red flag. The damage forced Truex to make an unscheduled pit stop during the caution. The end result was Truex dropping 13 positions to 18th.

JIMMIE JOHNSON, NO. 48 LOWE’S PATRIOTIC CHEVROLET SS – INVOLVED IN AN ON-TRACK INCIDENT ON LAP 236
WHAT HAPPENED?
“The root of our biggest problem was the fact that the alternator quit working and we had to keep changing batteries on pit road each caution. Then when I would go back out on the race track I would need to run with my fans off. I didn’t have my brake fans on and was racing hard to try to get a decent finish and evidently just got things too hot and the brakes failed. I felt a rotor explode on the front straightaway. Luckily it did it there so I had time to throw it in third gear, slow it down some, stay wide into turn one and try not to have a bad angle of the impact of the wall because I was going to hit for sure. So, it was just bad day that kept getting worse. I hope to make it home safe and outside of that, we will see you in Homestead.

Super Late Model Racing’s Best Prepare For Mason Dixon Meltdown At Southern National
CHARLOTTE, NC (November 7) – As has been customary for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model division, the season will once again conclude with the running of the 9th Annual Mason Dixon Meltdown on Saturday, November 15 at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, NC. Some of the best short trackers from Canada to Florida are busily preparing their machines for what will be, for many of them, the final race of a long campaign. One driver looking to cap off a pretty stellar 2014 season is Worcester, Massachusetts’s native Derek Ramstrom. During the late summer and early fall, Ramstrom went to victory lane in two of New England’s most prestigious events, the PASS 300 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway and the World Series of Stock Car Racing at Thompson Speedway in Connecticut. Following a successful 5th place outing with the Petit Motorsports team last weekend at Caraway Speedway’s North-South Shootout, Ramstrom is encouraged to return to his family owned team for another outing at Southern National.
