NAPLES, ME (July 12) – Due to circumstances out of their control, Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials announced today that the PASS events scheduled for June 21 at Franklin County Speedway in Callaway, VA have been cancelled. The track has undergone a management change in the last week. Despite the best efforts of PASS officials to work with the former management, we feel that there is not sufficient time to work with the new management team and organize this event properly.
The PASS South Super Late Models and PASS Pro Late Models will be in action once again on Thursday, July 3, along with the Southeast Super Trucks, for a special Independence holiday event at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in South Carolina. In addition to the action on track, fans will be entertained by a different type of fireworks. A Freestyle Motorcycle Spectacular will amaze and entertain the fans during intermission and help get the extended weekend kicked off in a big way.

The joy and jubilation for Eddie MacDonald and his team, family and friends in victory lane after winning the American Canadian Tour race at Riverside Speedway in Groveton, NH on Saturday night were soon dashed when the victory was taken away by ACT officials for a spring rubber violation. The Freddie Peterson owned and Hancock Electric Motor Service sponsored Chevy was given an eleventh place finish despite protests from the team.
ACT officials stated the new rule this year limits to three the number of spring rubbers in the rear right spring. The #17 had four spring rubbers and was stripped of the win with Eddie Mac saying, “This is our fun car. It is not our priority. Our commitment to the K&N Series takes up most of our time so we don’t spend a lot of time working on the ACT car. We love running with the ACT drivers and have a lot of fun. We only worked on setting up Freddie’s car for two days so we didn’t have time to pour over the rule book to look for an advantage. One of the officials said we probably read the rule book very closely and I can honestly say I have never read the rule book. We were totally unaware there was a rule change for the number of rear spring rubbers you could use. Obviously it was our fault for not knowing the rule but I feel the punishment did not fit the crime. Having an extra spring rubber made absolutely no difference between winning and losing. It is a minor tuning adjustment aide worth $13.00. It did nothing for the car. The car was fast and handled great when we got going after halfway. That is why we won. I just wished they could have fined us or something but to take away a win was way too severe I think.”

EAST MONTPELIER, Vt – Starting last in the final heat race at Riverside Saturday night, Packard went out and showed them that wasn’t going to be a problem for her. Starting in 7th with her 9x Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels car, she followed the 27nh to the front. Packard finished comfortably in 3rd place +4, which was enough to secure her the pole for the Central Paving 150 ACT race. “We struggled early in practice, but our times were similar with everyone else,” said Packard, “We got the bottom lane in the heat race and were able to follow the 27 to the front and earn the pole with our +4.”

Groveton, NH – Kyle Welch of Newport, NH earned his first career American Canadian Tour win at Riverside Speedway in Groveton, NH on Saturday, June 7. Welch inherited the win after apparent winner Eddie MacDonald was penalized for a post race tech infraction. MacDonald was penalized to the last car on the lead lap in 11th place.
Wayne Helliwell, Jr. took the early lead from the outside pole, but was quickly overtaken by Emily Packard on lap 20. Packard would lead the majority of the event, which saw no cautions during its 150 laps. Welch closed the gap on Packard’s lead and took the point with just 15 laps to go. (more…)
