More Close Competition On Tap For PASS In Return To Ace

57 Timm, 98 Hemric,  7 ChurchCHARLOTTE, NC (April 30) – With a quarter of the season behind them, the racers and fans of the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models are raving about the competition thus far. In the first four races of the year, three have been decided in the final two laps and the other with a pass for the win with 10 laps to go by Daniel Hemric who nearly lost a lap in the early stages at Greenville. Hemric followed that win in the Woodman Racing #41 at Greenville up by driving the Carswell Motorsports #98 around Cole Timm with two laps to go for the win at Dillon. At Orange County, Roger Lee Newton and Trevor Noles battled from the drop of the green flag of the Orange Blossom Special to Newton taking the checkered flag as Noles spun across the finish line. Then, at Hickory, hometown favorite Tyler Church appeared to be on his way to a popular win until a bump by DJ Shaw entering turn three on the final lap sent Church up the track and Shaw to victory lane.

Helliwell Leads ACT to Devil’s Bowl

(Photo by Eric LaFleche)Waterbury, VT – Two-time and defending American Canadian Tour Champion Wayne Helliwell, Jr. of Dover, NH finds himself atop the ACT Standings as the Tour heads into its third event of the season, the Spring Green 114 at Devil’s Bowl Speedway this Sunday, May 4. Helliwell is fresh off a $5,000 victory at Thunder Road last weekend and headed to one of his favrite tracks on the ACT schedule, the ½-mile Devil’s Bowl Speedway in West Haven, VT.

Helliwell claimed his first career ACT victory during the 2012 running of the Spring Green event at Devil’s Bowl. He then scored both ACT wins at the speedway last season, including the Spring Green 113 by a nose over eight-time ACT Champion Brian Hoar. All three wins helped him on his way to back-to-back ACT Championships.

Valenti Modified Racing Series Set For Seekonk Sunday

Canaan, NH. – Coming off a highly competitive race a week ago at Monadnock Speedway in New Hampshire, The Valenti Modified Racing Series heads to the famed Seekonk Speedway, Seekonk, MA, this Sunday afternoon May, 4, for the first of three appearances this season for New England’s premier open-wheel racing series, at the historic Bay State facility.

The event, the Sims Spring Kickoff Classic, the 24th appearance by the series at Seekonk, will feature a 100-lap green flag modified race with drivers from throughout the Northeast expected.

Patience; that’s what was stressed to Emily Packard during the 16th Annual Merchants Bank 150 this past Sunday April 27tt and did it ever pay off. In only the second race of the American Canadian Tour season, Packard took her time, picking her way through the field and drove her 9X Northstar Fireworks/Packard Fuels sponsored car to a third place finish.

“The race went absolutely awesome, I couldn’t ask for a better day,” said Packard on her podium finish. “To be able to be racing up front with these guys that I have looked up for so long was amazing. I just tried to stay calm, cool and collected and keep us up front. “ Earlier in the day Packard started second in the first ACT heat and comfortably maintained that position, getting herself into the race so that the team could focus on preparing the car for the race.

Wayne Helliwell, Jr. Wheels His Way to Merchants Bank Win

Barre, VT – Wayne Helliwell, Jr. of Dover, NH used a cross over move on Jimmy Hebert with about 15 laps to go to claim his first career Thunder Road win in the 16th annual Merchants Bank 150 on Sunday, April 27. Hebert held on for second while 17 year old Emily Packard came home third.

Hebert led for the majority of the event after taking the lead on lap 26 from his third place starting position. He held off two former Thunder Road Late Model Champions in Nick Sweet and Derrick O’Donnell in a fierce battle, while protecting the low lane. With just under 20 laps to go, Sweet and O’Donnell made hard contact on the backstretch, bringing out the ninth caution of the event. Sweet would be done to the day with front end damage, while O’Donnell returned after changing a flat. (more…)
