Helliwell, Hoar Settle Duel

Waterbury, VT – The budding rivalry of Dover, NH’s Wayne Helliwell, Jr. and Williston’s Brian Hoar will be settled this Saturday, October 6 in the Rent-A-Wreck Fall Foliage 200 at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY. The race will close out the season for the 2012 American Canadian Tour Championship, and will also include the 602 Modified and Renegade divisions.

Point-leader Helliwell will attempt to earn his first American Canadian Tour Championship holding on to an eight-point advantage. To do it he will have to beat out eight-time and defending ACT Champion Brian Hoar, who has kicked it into high gear late in the season and nearly closed the gap. Helliwell and team owner Bruce Bernhardt remain confident in their battle against one of New England’s racing legends.

Dave Pembroke Claims 50th Milk Bowl Pole

Therrien and Hodgdon Claim Tiger and Street Segment Wins

Barre, VT – Two-time Thunder Road Late Model Champion Dave Pembroke of Middlesex, VT claimed the Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Pole Award and will lead the 30 car field to green in the 50th People’s United Bank Milk Bowl at Thunder Road. Pembroke set the fast time of 12.956 during Saturday’s (Sept. 29) qualifying to just edge out three-time Milk Bowl Champion Brian Hoar of Williston, VT.

2012 Thunder Road Champion Nick Sweet of Barre, VT, Fort Kent, ME’s Austin Theriault and three-time Thunder Road Champion Cris Michaud won the three Triple 50 qualifiers and will complete the top five in the starting line-up for segment #1. Cody Blake, Travis Fadden, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr., Trampas Demers and Brooks Clark will start in the top ten.

Granite State Pro Stock Series JBH 100 Postponed

Season Finale now set for Saturday, October 6

WINCHESTER, NH — Rain prevailed for the third straight time in the JBH 100 as an unfavorable weather forecast forced officials to postponed the Granite State Pro Stock Series season finale until next Saturday, October 6.

Bobby Cabral of East Kingston, NH carries a 14 point lead over Bobby Baillargeon of Kingston, NH into the championship event. Rich Eaton of Seabrook, NH sits third in the standings 28 points back of Cabral. Barry Gray of Belchertown, MA sits fourth, 30 points back of Cabral. Mike Parks of Walpole, NH sits fifth, 44 points behind the point leader.

2012 ISMA CHAMPIONSHIP WILL GO DOWN TO THE WIRE AT THOMPSON

ThompsonTwo races remain on the 2012 International Supermodified Association (ISMA) tour, this Saturday’s Seekonk 200 at Seekonk (Mass.) Speedway and the annual season closer Oct. 13 and 14 at Connecticut’s Thompson Int’l Speedway as a part of the track’s big World Series of Racing event.

Entering this weekend’s showdown at Seekonk, four drivers have a shot at the prestigious 2012 ISMA Drivers Championship, and all of them are seeking their first ISMA title.

Canadian Mike Lichty holds a slim 31-point lead over Independence, Ohio, supermodified veteran Tim Jedrzejek, who drives for the Central New York-based Soule Racing team.

Rookie standout Emily Packard of East Montpelier, Vt., will attempt to qualify for her first People’s United Milk Bowl on Sunday, September 30, at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, Vt. The Canaan Fair Speedway Late Model Rookie of the Year and recent ACT Invitational attendee finished 10th in her Thunder Road debut in mid-August, and the No. 9x Northstar Fireworks/Fecteau Homes/GossCars.com/VT Shifter Karts Chevrolet will join nearly 60 other Late Model competitors from across the northeast United States and Canada at Thunder Road this weekend. Packard, 15, will pull double duty in the event, as she will also compete in her family-owned Street Stock in a 50-lap “Mini Milk Bowl.”
