DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 1, 2015) – NASCAR announced today that Senior Vice President of Competition Robin Pemberton will leave the organization at the end of 2015.

With a racing career that has spanned five decades, Pemberton joined the sanctioning body in August of 2004. Since that time, he has overseen all areas of NASCAR competition and been credited as a key component in bridging the gap between the sanctioning body and the racing community.

Payea Returning to ACT with RPM Motorsports

Waterbury, VT – RPM Motorsports has announced that former American-Canadian Tour (ACT) standout Scott Payea will join the team for the 2016 ACT Tour season. Milton, VT’s Payea returns after two years off from racing to compete for the Tour championship behind the wheel of the RPM Racing Engines Ford with car owner and crew chief Rick Paya.

 

Payea previously competed on the ACT Tour for six seasons beginning in 2005. He was the ACT Rookie of the Year in 2005 and finished runner-up in points for three straight years from 2007-2009, losing the 2008 championship to Patrick Laperle by a single point. Payea also won five Tour events, including two victories in the Merchants Bank 150 at Barre, VT’s Thunder Road as well as wins at White Mountain Motorsports Park, Waterford Speedbowl, and Airborne Park Speedway.

EASLEY, SC (October 24) – Fireworks erupted Saturday night when Joey Doiron and Zane Smith made contact just past the finish line at Greenville Pickens Speedway as Doiron crashed taking the win in The Howler for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models. Despite a car that was destroyed in the incident, Doiron walked to victory lane with the win and his first PASS Super Late Model National Championship.

“I try to race everybody like they race me and now my car is destroyed,” said Doiron afterwards. “We held back and saved our tires and just had enough to get there to the leader [Smith] and race for the win. We’re really proud to win the PASS National Championship too. It’s a lot of hard work during the season to get to all these races in the North and South and I’m glad it paid off for us to get the title.”

FOUR CHEVROLET SS DRIVERS ADVANCE TO THIRD ROUND OF THE CHASE

TALLADEGA, Ala. (Oct. 25, 2015) – Following a wild finish in the CampingWorld.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, four Team Chevy drivers have advanced to the Eliminator round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The 10-race playoff began with nine Chevy SS drivers vying for this season’s championship title. With only five races remaining in the season, four Chevrolet SS drivers are left standing to try to earn Team Chevy’s 31st driver championship.

Jeff Gordon in the No. 24 3M Chevrolet SS is the highest-seeded Chevy driver heading into the third round of the Chase which begins next week at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. Gordon, the pole-sitter in his final start at Talladega, earned a third-place finish in the scheduled 188-lap race that ended in a green-white-checkered finish under yellow.

Furniture Row driver finishes 7th in Talladega;
sets personal season record for top-10 finishes

TALLADEGA, Ala. (Oct. 25, 2015) – Martin Truex Jr.’s come-from-behind seventh-place finish Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway advanced the Furniture Row Racing driver to NASCAR’s Eliminator Round of the Chase, equivalent to college basketball’s Elite 8.

The seven other drivers joining Truex in the third round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup will be Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon, Kurt Busch and Kevin Harvick.

Randy Cabral pulled off “one for the ages” coming from last place in the NEMA feature to
pass teammate Todd Bertrand on the last lap at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park’s
Sunoco World Series of Racing this past Saturday evening. In Lites action, Scott Bigelow
dominated the feature event, despite a late race charge from John Zych Jr. Zych, the
night before, was crowned the NEMA champion for 2015, and his father, John Zych Sr. the
owner’s champion. In the Lites division, Anthony Payne won his first series championship
and Bigelow won the car owners title.

In the NEMA feature, Todd Bertrand jumped out into the lead in the Tim Bertrand owned
#74 machine. He quickly paced the field, pulling out to nearly a half straightaway lead
at one poiNt. Further back, John Zych Jr. had charged from his ninth starting spot to
take over the second spot by lap eight. Randy Cabral, who started scratch on the field,
was also making his way through the field and would reach the third spot by lap
thirteen.
