Hoar Goes Out on Top in World Series 100 while Helliwell Takes Third Title
Thompson, CT – Williston, VT’s Brian Hoar perhaps ended the most accomplished career in American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model history on top once again by winning the World Series 100 at Connecticut’s Thompson Motor Speedway on Saturday, October 17. Meanwhile, Dover, NH’s Wayne Helliwell Jr. added another notch to his belt by clinching his third ACT Tour Championship in four years.
Hoar was running second on a restart with eight laps remaining when leader Dillon Moltz lost control as the field came to the green. Although Hoar was able to get by, third-place Joey Polewarczyk Jr. could not and plowed in, with Walter Sutcliff getting collected as well.

The cars were very fast, equally paired and I couldn’t be more proud of what this Shell/Pennzoil team is doing right now. We’re such a fast race car, such a great team. We’ve showed it two weeks in a row now and this is a lot of fun. We’ve just got to ride this wave and we’ve got to get to Homestead still.” YOU GOT TO HIM AND THEN FELL BACK, AND THEN CAUGHT BACK UP.
WHAT HAPPENED AT THAT POINT? “He came up and started taking my air away, as he should, and I had to kind of adjust what I was doing and try to find a fast way back to him. I was able to get those runs back to him and get back to him.”

Granite State Pro Stock Series to Crown Champion at New London-Waterford Speedbowl Pro Stocks Return to Facility for Bemer’s Big Show 150
WATERFORD, CT – The Granite State Pro Stock Series’ inaugural trip to New London-Waterford Speedbowl will be a race to remember for at least one driver, as the series’ champion will be crowned at the Bemer’s Big Show 150, on October 24.
Derek Griffith, who has enjoyed a breakout season, leads Barry Gray by 40 points entering the event. Griffith has picked up a total of four wins in this campaign, the most this season by any driver, after earning his first career win in April, at Claremont Speedway.

Rocco Wins VMRS – Thompson World Series 50
(Thompson, CT.) — Keith Rocco of Wallingford, CT., started outside front row, fought off the challenges of Todd Szegedy and later Woody Pitkat, to go on and win the 50-lap Valenti Modified Racing Series season finale at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, Thompson, CT Saturday night., October 17,
The win was Rocco’s second VMRS at Thompson and his 6th career series win.

Harvick Finishes Runner-Up at Charlotte

Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 4 Jimmy John’s/Budweiser Chevrolet SS, led the four-car Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) contingent Sunday at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway by finishing second in the rain-postponed Bank of America 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race. It was Harvick’s series-leading 11th second-place finish this season and his 14th top-two finish in the 30 races run in 2015.

Barre, VT – Local hero Nick Sweet added to his growing legend on Sunday, October 11, slicing through the field in the final laps to win the final segment and capture his second career Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl win in the 2015 Thunder Road season finale.
The multi-time Thunder Road Late Model Champion entered the final segment trailing rival and three-time defending “King of the Road” Derrick O’Donnell by five points in the overall tally and was running seventh to O’Donnell’s eleventh when the first of three caution flags flew on lap 37 of the 50-lap segment. Seeing the Milk Bowl within his grasp, Sweet seized the moment, needing just seven more laps to charge to the lead.
