CHARLOTTE, NC (December 3) – There is an old adage that “newer is better,” but in the case of the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model division, newcomers and veterans are “twice as nice.”
Perhaps more than any other touring division in the country, PASS South saw a fairly even break down of drivers, younger and older, competing at the top level. The average age of the top ten drivers in the 2010 final point standings was just over 26, with Jay Fogleman being the oldest at age 43 and Ryan Blaney being the youngest at age 16. (more…)
Racing Assets of Richard Petty Motorsports Purchased by Richard Petty, Medallion Financial, and DGB Investments
Concord, N.C. (November 29, 2010) – Racing legend and all time NASCAR win leader Richard Petty is back in the driver’s seat.
Richard Petty Motorsports signed and closed a sale of its racing assets to an investment group comprised of Richard Petty, Medallion Financial Corp. (Nasdaq:TAXI) and DGB Investments.
Richard Petty, a seven-time NASCAR champion has won 200 races, including 10 Daytona races. Known in the NASCAR world as “The King,” Petty will serve as Chairman and will be actively involved in overseeing day-to-day operations of the company. As previously announced, the team will operate the legendary No. 43 car driven by AJ Allmendinger and the No. 9 car driven by Marcos Ambrose.
NAPLES ME (11/29) Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry has released the 2011 schedules for both the PASS Sportsman and PASS Mod series and both are a blend of new venues, returning venues and old favorites.
The Mods currently have eleven confirmed dates with the possibility of one additional race. Oxford Plains Speedway welcomes the PASS Mods back for a Friday July 22 appearance during Oxford 250 weekend, and the series finale on October 1. White Mountain is back on the schedule for the first time since 2005 and Star Speedway adds a date. (more…)
Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) announced today that an agreement has been reached with New Smyrna Speedway (NSS) to bring the ACT Late Model teams from the Northeastern US and Canada to the historic ‘World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing’ at New Smyrna, Florida during the Daytona Speedweeks.
There will be two 100-lap events for ACT teams with back-to-back races on Sunday, February 13 and Monday, February 14, 2011.
Sterling Marlin leads latest batch of early entries for THE RACE at Historic North Wilkesboro
NAPLES ME ( 11/24) Two time Daytona 500 winner Sterling Marlin has filed his early entry for THE RACE at North Wilkesboro. Slated for April 9, 2011, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) sanctioned race at North Wilkesboro Speedway will pay a minimum of $75,000.00 to the winner.
Marlin has ten Sprint Cup and 2 Nationwide Series wins under his belt but early in his career he captured three consecutive championships at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, a storied short track that has produced so many racing talents. He has plenty of experience at North Wilkesboro too, with a number of top ten results during his cup career. (more…)
