Naples ME (8/11/2009)– The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North super late models have raced hundreds of times from Nova Scotia to Connecticut in their nine year history, but this Saturday the series will make its’ first appearance in the Bay State when they travel to the birthplace of the Pro Stock, Seekonk Speedway.
The first ever PASS battle at the Cement Palace will pit a collection of Seekonk’s weekly competitors against the toughest touring pros in the Northeast, and it’s entirely possible that the PASS regulars will be up ended for two races in a row. Randy Turner claimed the winner’s spoils at Unity Raceway two weeks ago, and home track advantage played a major role in his triumph over the likes of DJ Shaw and Ben Rowe. Seekonk is home to a very strong field of weekly racers and they know “their” track inside out. Fred Astle, Tom Scully Jr. and Sr., and a host of other Seekonk specialists will be on hand when Cirelli Foods presents the PASS 150 Saturday night.
It won’t be an easy task to top the PASS teams. The travelling racer teams have a knack for adapting to a new race track quickly, and they are certain to be up to the challenge. Johnny Clark leads the series to Seekonk, with three wins and nine top ten finishes in the first ten events of 2009. As the schedule heads down the home stretch, Clark is seeking his second consecutive PASS North title. Ben Rowe, Adam Bates, Richie Dearborn and Derek Ramstrom are all chasing Clark and there’s still four events left to gain ground and challenge the point leader.
Seekonk’s own Late Models, Street Stocks and Sport Trucks complete the program. Pit gates open at 1:00 PM, practice gets underway at 3:00 PM and the racing card goes green at 6:00 PM. Seekonk Speedway is located at 1710 Fall River Avenue in Seekonk Massachusetts. Their web address is www.seekonkspeedway.com .

Corey Williams Sets Orange County Ablaze with
PASS Southern Sizzler Victory
Naples, ME 8/10/09- The weather may have been warm, but it was Corey Williams who was hot from the moment he unloaded his #47 machine as he claimed his fifth Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South super late model win in the Southern Sizzler 150 at Orange County Speedway Saturday night. Justin Wakefield muscled his way to second while Signal Mountain, Tennessee’s Heath Hindman notched his season best finish of third at the fast 3/8th mile facility. Veteran Jay Fogleman and Preston Peltier rounded out the top five.
Williams showed his strength early and often as he set fast time during qualifying by almost two tenths over the second place driver. Early green flag racing saw Ryan Blaney open up a half track lead over the rest of the top five competitors. A lap sixty-one caution brought the field back together and also brought Williams’ car within striking distance of the top spot. After making his way to the front, a spin by series points leader Ben Rowe on lap 145 set the stage for a five lap shootout.
Williams got the jump over Justin Wakefield on the final restart cruising away with the win and the trophy. Even though it was Williams who stole the show, the story of the night was veteran Jay Fogleman’s comeback from two laps down to finish fourth in a backup car. Fogleman fought an ill handling car after getting limited practice in a backup car after his primary car suffered mechanical problems earlier in the day.
In PASS truck series action, Grant Davidson extended his points lead with his fourth win in seven races in 2009. Michael Cooper, behind the wheel of his new #18 truck ride, finish second and fourteen year old Clint King, who won earlier in the year at Coastal Plains Raceway, rounded out the top three.
Next up for the premier super late model series of the south will be the Over the Mountain 150 at the Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, North Carolina on Saturday August 29th. The event will mark the third and final trip to the historic track for the series in 2009.

Naples ME ( 8/3/2009) Scott McDaniel looked high and low for a way around race leader Gary Norris in Sundays’ 40 lap Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Mod feature at Unity (ME) Raceway, and when the white flag unfurled the young racer from Livermore Falls Maine found a way by Norris to capture his first PASS Mod series feature win. McDaniel looked like he had the car to beat from the get go and gave the fans plenty to watch as he tried the outside and inside lines on Norris. It was tight clean racing at its best for the full 40 laps as the pair battled for the win.
Norris hung on to second and Bill Dixon raced home third. Point leader Andy Shaw suffered damage on the first lap when the front of the field checked up and retired, finishing last.
McDaniel is the second new PASS Mod winner in as many races. Sulo Burbank captured his first victory at Riverside Speedway on July 25th.Burbank recorded a fourth place finish at Unity, followed by Scott Grant in fifth. Heat races went to Dan Somes and Andy Shaw.
Shane Tatro has to have taken a liking to Unity Raceway. The Levant Maine PASS Sportsman regular has two wins in the series; his first coming in a shoot out with Dan McKeage in the series’ May appearance at the speedway, and the second came Sunday when he beat Lyman McKeage and his son Dan McKeage to the line in the 75 lap PASS Sportsman portion of the NAPA 150 card. Carey Martin stayed alive in the point race by finishing fourth and Duane Seekins rounded out the top five.
Mike Landry looked like a winner with less than ten laps to go. Landry and Tatro dueled all race long, with Tatro out front until Landry used the high line to take over on lap 53. Landry appeared to have the measure of Tatro, but the lead was never more than a car length or two. During that lap 53 caution period the telltale smell of gear oil was in evidence, and it proved to be coming from the rear end of the leader’s ride. Landry dropped into the infield with seven to go, and Tatro cruised to another PASS victory lane visit at Unity. Landry and Tatro each won a qualifying round.
The PASS Mods and Sportsman share the limelight at Groveton New Hampshire’s Riverside Speedway on Saturday August 16th. For more information on the speedway visit www.riversidespeedway.org . The Pro All Stars are on line at www.racewithpass.com or www.proallstarsseries.com .

Turner Topples PASS regulars at Unity
Naples ME (8/3/2009) Randy Turner drove by Scott Chubbuck on lap 117 of Sunday afternoon’s Pro All Stars Series (PASS) NAPA 150 at Unity (ME) Raceway, taking the lead for good to capture his first career Pro All Stars Series (PASS) super late model feature win. DJ Shaw came from the back of the field to nip Ben Rowe for second at the checker. Rowe settled for third and Chubbuck slipped to fourth; Richie Dearborn rounded out the top five.
Unity Raceway lived up to its name and Maine’s Toughest Oval served up an afternoon of side by side racing along with a few spectacular wrecks for those unlucky enough to get out of bounds at the tricky third mile oval.
The first half of the show belonged to Louis Mechalides, Turner, Chubbuck and Kelly Moore, with Mechalides, urner and Chubbuck swapping the lead on several restarts and racing hard for the top spot. That was the way they raced until a lap 107 restart when Chubbuck and Mechalides gave each other a shove or two, resulting in a broken suspension and retirement for Mechalide’s 1C Cat Scales ride.
That left Turner and Chubbuck, two drivers with plenty of Unity experience, to battle it out. Turner has been chasing a Pro All Stars win whenever the series visits his home track and he came close in May, finishing third and running up front throughout the race. This time around he wouldn’t be denied. Turner’s win was a first for the Toyota name plate in PASS North competition, and it’s the first feature win for a non series regular since Joey Porceillo scored at Beech Ridge in May of 2007. Turner is the seventh different driver to visit PASS super late model victory lane this season, joining Chris Staples as a first time feature winner.
Staples didn’t fare so well this day, taking a lazy roll in the mud off turn one. He was uninjured. Wrecks slowed title contenders Adam Bates (11th) and Derek Ramstrom (19th). The race was slowed by seven cautions and one red flag period. Heat race wins went to Turner, Mechalides, and Gary Smith.
The PASS North super late models have a week off before heading south to Seekonk (MA) Speedway when Cirelli Foods presents the PASS 150 on Saturday August 15th. The race marks the series’ first visit to the track that invented super late model (nee pro stock) racing, and the first Bay State appearance in the Pro All Stars Series’ nine year history. It’s a trip to the Cement Palace that can’t be missed. Race time is 6:00 PM; Seekonk Speedway’s web site can be found at www.seekonkspeedway.com .

Naples ME (7/28/2009) Unity Raceway hosts the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) this Sunday August 2nd and the ticket price is a throwback to the days when all race cars were built from a junkyard and gas was less than a buck a gallon.
Thanks to NAPA and PASS, two adults can see 150 laps of PASS super late model racing, 40 laps for the PASS Mods and a 75 lap PASS Sportsman feature for just ten bucks each. That’s right, the two- for- one NAPA coupons from the Fathers Day rainout will be honored , this week’s edition of the Racin’ Paper has a two- for- one coupon and coupons are still available at most northern New England NAPA stores.
The PASS Sportsman have been on hiatus since the May race at Unity and those teams are anxious to get back on track at Maine’s toughest oval. Dan McKeage sits atop the Sportsman standing by twelve points over Carey Martin, with Mike Landry Shane Tatro and Lyman McKeage in spots three through five. McKeage, Martin and Tatro each have a race win under their belts, and Tatro earned his last time out at Unity in a wild finish that might just be topped on Sunday.
Andy Shaw started a three race PASS Mod win streak at Unity and the Center Conway NH speedster is atop the Mod standings. Steve Bennett Jr., Scott Grant and Bill Dixon are all chasing Shaw, and Sulo Burbank will be looking for a second straight win after scoring his first at Riverside Speedway on July 25th.
The PASS North super late models roll back into Unity for some more wide open side by side action Pro All Stars style; the fast full bodied racers are perfectly suited to the Unity oval, a track that lets you put down the horsepower and race three wide when the need arises. Johnny Clark was victorious in May but Scott Chubbuck, Randy Turner, Kelly Moore, Travis Benjamin and DJ Shaw were all strong last time out so the competition will be fierce.
Practice gets underway at noon and the first heat takes the green at 3:00 PM sharp. For more information, race results and point standings visit www.racewithpass.com or www.proallstarsseries.com . Unity Raceway is on line at www.unityraceway.info .

Pro All Stars Series news : PASS Mod Riverside Speedway race report – 7/25/2009
Sulo Burbank breaks through with Riverside PASS Mod win
Naples ME (7/27/09) Thirteen year old Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Mod sophomore Sulo Burbank had the drive of his young career Saturday night, claiming his first PASS feature win in the PASS Mod portion of Summerfest 2009 at Groveton New Hampshire’s Riverside Speedway. Burbank took the point from Dan Somes on lap 7 of the 40 lap tilt and kept PASS Mod point leader Andy Shaw and Somes in his rear view mirror the rest of the way. Somes and team mate Gary Norris checkered second and third: Shaw faded to fourth and Steve Bennett Jr. raced home fifth.
Somes and Burbank took the green on the front row and Somes jumped out front early with Burbank on his back bumper. The caution flag flew on lap 7 when Scott Grant took a wild ride on the front stretch guardrail. Burbank got the jump on the resulting restart to take over the lead, but Andy Shaw was charging through the field on the outside. Shaw was seeking his fourth win in six PASS Mod starts on the season, and he looked like he would get a shot at it.
It only took twelve laps for Shaw to reach Burbank’s bumper. Shaw did his best to rattle the leader but Burbank stood his ground and it soon became apparent that the point leader’s run to the front had taken its toll on his tires .Just past half way Shaw began to fade, giving up second to Somes and third to Norris; Burbank kept his cool to record a convincing victory.
The PASS Mods join the PASS North super late models and sportsman at Unity (ME) Raceway on Sunday August 2nd for the NAPA 150. Post time at Unity is 3:00 PM. For more information be sure to visit www.racewithpass.com orwww.proallstarsseries.com .
