PASS Pro Late Models: Perimeter Or Straight Rail – Which Will Take The Title In 2014?

[nggallery id=168]

CHARLOTTE, NC (January 23) – Since its inception in 2012, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Pro Late Model division has been all about creating another avenue for up-and-coming racers to take their next steps up the racing ladder. But, it has also been about inclusion. A division where a straight rail chassis, like the PASS South Super Late Models, or a perimeter chassis, those mainly utilized by Late Model Stock racers, can compete together on a level playing field. And the results speak for themselves.

In the inaugural season for the PASS Pro Late Model division in 2012, perimeters and straight rails went head-to-head. Veteran Clay Thomas won the series first ever race at Dillon Motor Speedway and Lexington, SC’s Austin Leitner had multiple wins en route to the championship. Both while driving perimeter machines. Along the way, youngsters like Tate Fogelman and Cole Timm showed their prowess with wins driving straight rails. Last year, Trevor Noles and Harrison Burton dominated the division also driving straight rails. So, which combination will come out on top in 2014?

[nggallery id=165]

CHARLOTTE, NC (January 17) – Two-time defending Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model national champion Jay Fogleman headlines another impressive group of drivers that have entered for the 3rd running of the Florida Winter Meltdown at New Smyrna Speedway on February 8. Fogleman’s entry comes as somewhat of a surprise after he announced last year that he would curtail racing to focus more on his 14-year-old son, Tate’s, budding career. And, while Fogleman has no plans to defend his PASS South Super Late Model championship of a year ago, he does plan on making a run at his third straight PASS National Series title. Fogleman, who finished 8th in the inaugural Winter Meltdown at New Smyrna back in 2010, will return to the seat of his famed #4 out of the family owned Bull City Race Cars shop.

“We’re definitely stepping back this year to focus on Tate and trying to help him win the PASS South championship,” said Fogleman. “I’m planning to run all the PASS National races this year. We came close to winning at Oxford last year and I sure would like to get that Oxford 250 trophy before my career’s all said and done.”
