Oxford Plains Speedway President, Tom Mayberry is extremely pleased with the number of pre-entries for the 2014 edition of the 41st running of the Oxford 250 slated to go green on Sunday, July 20, 2014.
“It appears that interest is at an all time high for the 250 this year exclaimed Mayberry. It’s only early March and we have thirty drivers from the Northeast, Canada and North Carolina already pre-registered for one of the most heralded Super Late Model races in the country! The competition for this event just keeps getting better.”
Some of the latest entries received come from such notables as Daniel Hemric from Kannapolis, North Carolina. Hemric is coming off a big win at the PASS South opener at Greenville-Pickens Speedway in Easley, South Carolina. Hemric finished 9th in 2013. Joining Hemric will be Pelham, New Hampshire’s Wayne Helliwell Jr. The two time and defending ACT champion and multi-time Lee USA Speedway Late Model champion will be doing a considerable amount of Super Late Model racing in 2014 and will be attempting to qualify for his first ever Super Late Model attempt at the Oxford 250. Helliwell has his eyes set for a solid finish if not a victory in 2014. Entry has been received from Vanna Brackett, the second member of the well known Brackett family that has raced at OPS for several years. Vanna will bring her Oxford experience to the 250, which includes a solid third place finish in the highly competitive Budweiser Pro Late Model in the weekly Oxford Championship Series in 2013. Vanna joins her father Tim Brackett as early entries. Curtis Gerry from Waterville, Maine has filed his entry for the 250. The Petit Motorsports team is a regular fixture on the PASS North Series. Kevin Roberge from Boischatel, Quebec, will bring his Habitations Danny Legace Inc. machine to the big dance this year. Roberge competed at numerous PASS events in 2013. Newcomer Tyler Dippel from Walkill, New York has thrown his hat into the ring of fire, as has PASS North competitor, Bryan Kruczek from New Market, New Hampshire. Thus far there are thirty drivers representing six states, and provinces of Quebec. The Oxford 250 is a PASS National event which means drivers from all over the country will be competing for a starting spot in the historic event.

CHARLOTTE, NC (February 27) – A star studded field of North America’s top short track drivers are just days away from taking to the legendary Greenville-Pickens Speedway in South Carolina for race one of the 2014 Pro All Stars Series (PASS) National Championship Series. The Fox Carolina 150 will double as the first PASS South Super Late Model race of the season and will also feature 50 laps for the PASS Pro Late Models and 75 laps for the Southeast Super Trucks.
The field of drivers pre-entered is stacked with champion drivers including former PASS National and PASS North Champion Ben Rowe, 2013 PASS Pro Late Model Champion Trevor Noles and Super Late Model touring champions Daniel Hemric and Travis Braden. But, those are not the only drivers racing at Greenville-Pickens Speedway this Saturday night who have achieved championship status.

Last year’s 2013 UNOH Battle At The Beach may have been the most talked about short-track event of the season. There was plenty of action and drama as Daytona International Speedway hosted the inaugural event on its backstretch.
The UNOH Battle At The Beach is back at “The World Center of Racing” on Tuesday, Feb. 18 and again will air live on television and radio. FOX Sports 2 will broadcast live beginning at 7 p.m. ET. Motor Racing Network (MRN) will go on the air at 6:45 p.m. with its pre-show, and the broadcast will be streamed live at MRN.com and simulcast by SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Ch. 90.

The only hardcore racing trade show in the Northeast will go green this Friday, February 7 at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel in Marlboro and continues through Saturday to 5 p.m.
All forms of motorsports will be represented from circle track, drag, and road racing to karting and more.
World class exhibitors will be displaying the latest equipment and innovative technology that this industry has to offer. Sanctioning bodies and tracks will be available to inform competitors about the coming season.
Some of the tracks that will be there include; Thompson Motorsports Park, Star Speedway, Lee USA Speedway, and the Valenti Modified Racing Series. Among the various tours are; USAC DMA Midgets, Pro 4 Modifieds, New England Truck Series, Granite State Mini Sprints, NELCAR Legends and NEMA Midgets. Also the New England Region SCCA and F1 Boston in Braintree and F1 Outdoors in E. Bridgewater.

Capacity crowd recognizes champions and award winners
RUTLAND, VT – Devil’s Bowl Speedway honored the achievements of its star stock car drivers on Saturday, February 1 at the annual Banquet of Champions, held at the Holiday Inn Rutland-Killington in Rutland, VT. The sold-out crowd of nearly 300 guests enthusiastically applauded the champions of the track’s four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions along with the Northern Modified Challenge Series, the Vermont State Late Model Championship Series, and the Enduro Series.
Todd Stone of Middlebury, VT was officially crowned the champion of the headline Bond Auto Parts Modified division after a record-breaking season of 10 victories in 17 starts. Stone’s crew chief Jeff Carter received NASCAR’s UNOH Ultimate Mechanic Challenge prize, and the owner’s championship, won by Gardner Stone, was accepted by long time team member Rob Lowell. Hunter Bates was honored as the Modified division’s runner-up, with Vince Quenneville, Jr. third.

Morin, Poirier earn impressive wins for Ingles Performance at ECS season opener
Chris Ingles notches a pair of podiums in Sport action
RUMNEY, N.H. (Dec. 16, 2013) – Two former regional snocross champions returned to top form over the weekend, as Quebec natives Mathieu Morin and Danny Poirier split a Sunday afternoon Pro Open doubleheader at the Riverbrook RV Resort.
The event kicked off the 2013-14 season for East Coast Snocross, and featured more hurdles than an Olympic-level track meet. Racers faced incredibly tough track conditions, thanks to brutal cold, a lack of snow on Saturday and a broken groomer on Sunday.
Morin, of Val D’Or, blasted his way to victory in the first final after a rough start and serious challenge from Wisconsin native Mike Bauer. The 2010 RMR champion dug deep, and proved beyond a shadow of doubt he is 100% healthy and ready to go after another championship.
“I jumped a little bit on the start, so they put me in the third row,” Morin said. “I was pretty mad, so I think that motivated me to get out front early. A few riders tangled in the first corner, but I was lucky enough to sneak by them.”
Series newcomer Bauer slotted into second after the first lap and started to gain on Morin. Just past halfway in the grueling, 14-lap final, Bauer took the lead, forcing Morin to dig deep yet again.
“Mike is pretty fast, and when he passed me I knew it would be a good battle,” Morin added. “I found a good line on a pretty nasty track going down the backstretch and retook the lead. I have to thank my Ingles Performance team and Ski-doo, they gave me the sled to pull this off. It feels fantastic, and I can’t wait to get to Fonda Speedway next month for Round 2.”
Poirier held off a strong challenge from Morin (finished second) and fellow Ski-doo rider Lincoln Lemieux (third) for top honors to complete a clean sweep of Pro Open for the team.
“I am getting very comfortable on the new Ski-doo, and that helps my confidence to push hard,” Poirier said. “After spending three weeks out west this year, I found some things that have helped the sled a lot. I have great support with this team, communication is smooth and we have what we need to win. It feels great to start a new season with a win for both Mathieu and myself. I’m pretty happy.”
Miksen Racing/Ingles Performance rider Jesse James Bonaduce had an outstanding weekend of racing in Pro Lite action. The Somerville, NJ, native finished second to Swedish sensation Emil Sundvisson in the first final, then found redemption in the nightcap by passing the Swede for the lead and never looking back. Bonaduce got a nasty cut next to his right eye out west, yet appears to be in excellent shape for the ECS season.
“I had a lot of stitches in that area, but it has healed up pretty well and I am in good shape,” Bonaduce said. “The sled ran perfectly all weekend, the track was pretty sketchy but it was the same for everybody. I just tried to find a decent line, stay focused and run my own races. I’ll take win and a second place finish to start a new season, we have the championship in our sights so this is a great start. I’m ready for Fonda.”
Vermont native Hunter Patenaude was impressive in his first outing of Pro Lite competition. The talented rookie made a terrific last-lap pass on Swedish rider Emil Sundvisson in Sunday’s second final to score a solid third-place finish, starting his rookie season on a positive note.
Adding to this successful season opener was a pair of Sport class podiums by Chris Ingles. Despite a full plate in college this winter, Chris is racing with focus and landed on the podium twice over the weekend. Ingles Performance will return to ECS action again on Jan. 11-12 in Fonda, NY. On behalf of team owners Mike and Robin Ingles, best wishes to all for a Merry Christmas and Hapy New Year. We hope to see you in 2014.
