Governor’s Cup Date Changed to Thursday, July 10
Barre, VT – Thunder Road International Speedbowl announced today that NASCAR Sprint Cup star Clint Bowyer from Emporia, Kansas has asked to return for another shot at the famous high banks of Thunder Road. Bowyer raced in the 2013 Vermont Governor’s Cup 150 for the first time. His goal was to have better results than the previous “Cup” visitor, Tony Stewart, who finished 16th. “I want to tackle that ¼ mile again. I didn’t have enough time to figure out the fourth turn, but I learned a lot last year about it, and I really want to get back there–the teams and fans were fun to be around,” said Bowyer.
The original date for the VT Governor’s Cup of Thursday, June 26 has been switched to Thursday, July 10th to coincide with the NASCAR Sprint Cup event being held that weekend at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon. Thursday, June 26 will now be a regular Thursday night race program.

WEST HAVEN, VT – Devil’s Bowl Speedway has disqualified driver Jessey Mueller and the No. 19 car from the 101.5 The Fox Spring Green event held on Sunday, June 15. The Mueller car failed to meet requirements for minimum engine height in post-race technical inspection. Mueller’s feature race finish has been disallowed and he has been stripped of all championship points and purse money earned in the race. Mueller must also start in last place in all Modified qualifying and feature races on Friday, June 20.

Teenager trying to unseat Helliwell at Rutland County track
WEST HAVEN, VT – Emily Packard is aiming for a piece of stock car racing history at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Father’s Day. The 17 year-old junior at Union 32 High School in Montpelier, VT is off to the best start of her career and now heads to her strongest track for the American-Canadian Tour’s 101.5 The Fox “Spring Green 114” event on Sunday, June 15 at 1:30 p.m. She’ll try to become the first woman to win a Late Model event at the fast Rutland County half-mile, and just the second woman in ACT history to win.
Packard has a pair of top-five ACT finishes this season and led 115 laps at Riverside (NH) Speedway last weekend. She ranks fourth in championship standings as the season reaches its halfway point at the Spring Green. Packard has also competed in weekly NASCAR Whelen All-American Series events at Devil’s Bowl and has finished in the top five in all three events. A third-place showing in the People’s United Bank 100 two weeks ago leaves her just one point behind leader Josh Masterson in the track’s title chase.
