Folsom Takes Third Career Thunder Road Late Model Win

Barre, VT – Waitsfield’s Grant Folsom claimed his third career Thunder Road Late Model feature win in the Harvest Equipment Sunday Twilight event on Sunday, June 19. Folsom got underneath polesitter Scott Payea after an early restart. After a several laps of banging doors with Payea on the outside, Folsom got free. During a long green flag run, Folsom distance himself from the remainder of the field, but a late caution erased his lead.

Barre, VT – Barre native Mike Bailey earned his third career Late Model feature win at Thunder Road International Speedbowl as he led all 50 laps on the first Thursday night show of the year June 16. Bailey held off Waterbury’s Brett Wheeler and Washington’s Ricky Roberts who completed the top three.
Joey Becker and Brooks Clark rounded out the top five, while Mike Bruno and Chip Grenier took sixth and seventh respectively. Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott worked his way from 16th to claim eighth. He was followed by Memorial Day Classic winner John Donahue in ninth and former King of the Road Dave Pembroke in tenth.

Barre, VT – Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT will kick off its Thursday night schedule a week early with the rescheduled Ferguston Waterworks event. The event, which was originally scheduled for Sunday, June 12, was postponed due to rain and will be run on Thursday, June 16.
The event will go as previously scheduled with free admission to Barre flood victim residents, who will also receive a complimentary hot dog and soda from Al’s French Fries. Kids 12 and under are also free. Adults are just $10. Donations of food, non-perishable food items or small financial donations will again be collected at the front gate in an effort to support the Barre flood victims.

THUNDER ROAD TO HELP BARRE FLOOD VICTIMS
Free admission to next Thunder Road event
Waterbury, VT –Thunder Road International Speedbowl has been supported by hometown Barre, Vermont fans for over 52 years. Now one of the most well-known short tracks in North America is going to give back on Sunday, June 12.
“We are inviting Barre flood victims to ‘take a break’ and join us on Sunday, June 12. The clean-up and sorrow from the most devastating floods since 1927 have shown what a resilient town Barre is. The people and city will bounce back. The folks of Barre have helped Thunder Road through some tough times over the years, and we wanted to give back in a small way. We hope a few hours of fun will be our way of saying thanks to our neighbors”, said Tom Curley co-owner of Thunder Road with Ken Squier.

Joey Polewarczyk Jr. Comes away with a 6th place finish at Thunder Road.
Barre, VT – American-Canadian Tour Late Model Driver, #97 Joey Polewarczyk Jr finishes in 6th place in the 49th Annual Memorial Day Classic at the “Nations site of excitement,” Thunder Road
Speedbowl.
Polewarczyk narrowly missed qualifying through his heat race and started on the pole for his Consolation race. He ended up taking the checkered flag in the event, which ensure a starting spot in the 27-car field.

Barre, VT – Graniteville’s John Donahue and Bradford’s Derrick O’Donnell claimed wins in Mekkelsen RV Memorial Classic doubleheader at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT on Sunday, May 29. Donahue, a former Milk Bowl champion and four time winner at Thunder Road in 2010, claimed the Late Model 100 lap feature win.
Donahue fought his way past Middlesex’s Dave Pembroke in a battle of two Fords on lap 33. The two battled hard for the first 32 laps with Donahue trying everything he could to get by leader Pembroke before finally gaining the edge. Donahue would lead the rest of the way for the most part uncontested.
