dfhdtvcKANNAPOLIS, N.C., (March 17, 2015) – Now in his 17th year as a driver in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, Tony Stewart has learned a thing or two about navigating the series’ marathon-like schedule.

Thirty-six point-paying events lasting two to three days at 23 venues across the United States are packed into a 10-month span beginning in mid-February and carrying through the penultimate weekend of November. It’s a challenge that has yielded only seven different Sprint Cup champions in the last 14 years when the schedule expanded to its current 36-race slate in 2001.

Harvick Dominates at Phoenix

dsgsdgThe driver of the No. 4 Jimmy John’s/Budweiser Chevrolet SS for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) dominated Sunday’s CampingWorld.com 500k NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race, as he started from the pole position and led four times for a race-high 224 laps en route to his series-high seventh win at Phoenix. It was the fifth time in his career that Harvick has won from the pole.

DJ Shaw Excited To Start Season At Anderson’s Peach Blossom Special

500web-PASS-2006-MasterCHARLOTTE, NC (March 13) – After a long off season for many teams, especially those in the Northeast and Canada, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) National Championship Series is set to kick off Saturday, March 21 with the Peach Blossom Special 125 at Anderson Motor Speedway. This year’s event will mark the first time PASS has raced at the Upstate South Carolina facility since veteran Brandon Ward took the checkered flag there in 2012.

The word from the Valenti Modified Racing Series is that the tour hired Warren Alston as the Race Director for 2015. Warren was the flagman last year and brings a lot of experience to the position. Flagman John Spence, Jr, will be his backup when needed and already has two shows to do this season.

The VMRS will also be atg the Waterford Speedbowl in August with ISMA and NEMA. That tour will be making its first visit to Devils Bowl and that tour will also be going to Oxford Plains for the 250 weekend. Beech Ridge is another popular stop in August. Kirk Alexander, all time VMRS winner with 31 victories, returns full-time this season.

ACT Lee USA Opener Historically Unpredictable

Waterbury, VT– American Canadian Tour (ACT) fans attending the annual New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 opening events at the Lee USA Speedway are generally the real winners at the seacoast oval on opening day. Sunday, April 12 will be no exception. History shows that there are many surprises in opening events at the fast 3/8 mile oval.

 

In the ten years running the NH Governor’s Cup, there has only been one repeat winner. Eight-time ACT Champion Brian Hoar of Williston, VT won the title back-to-back in 2011 and 2012. In 2009, Hoar and teammate for the event Mike Olsen (N. Haverhill, NH) looked like runaway favorites until Goodyear tire issues took both teams out of winning contention while running in the first two spots during the first half of the event.
