Mooresville, NC 10/20/14- Caleb Holman was hands down the fastest chicken in the South Saturday night at Hickory Motor Speedway. The veteran driver won the Bojangles 250 after pulling away from fourteen year old Todd Gilliland, son of NASCAR Cup driver David Gilliland, in the final seventy-five laps of the event to take home the hardware. The visit to Edelbrock Victory Lane was his sixth trip this season in twelve events.

Thompson, Conn: Ryan Preece led a contingent of drivers to visit Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park victory lane in the final day of the Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing presented by Xtra Mart. Preece was dominant in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour race leading 137 of 150 laps. In NASCAR Whelen All American Series action, Charlie Rose held off Larry Gelinas for the Late Model victory while Woody Pitkat checkered the Sunoco Modified Series feature. Other winners were Derek Ramstrom in the Granite State Pro Stock Series, Randy Cabral in NEMA action, Chris Perley in the ISMA Supermodifieds, and Chris Turbush in the New England Truck Series.

ROUGEMONT, NC (October 18) – Making only his second start in an asphalt stock car, Oklahoma’s Christopher Bell dominated the second half of the Orange County 150 presented by CV Products Saturday night at Orange County Speedway for his first career Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model win. The victory was the second of the 2014 PASS season for the Kyle Busch Motorsports team to go along with a win by Busch at Canada’s Autodrome Chaudiere in August.

Thompson, Conn.: Woody Pitkat won his second career pole for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour by setting fast time in a rain-delayed qualifying Saturday night at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park for the Sunoco World Series of Auto Racing. Steve Masse collected a convincing win in the Valenti Modified Racing Series while Toby Wells won the North East Mini Stock Tour feature. Phil Lausier won in the Pro Four Modified race while NASCAR Whelen All American Series victories went to Wayne Coury, Jr., Nick Anderson and George Rego.

WEST HAVEN, VT – Devil’s Bowl Speedway’s final dirt track event of the season has been postponed by early morning rain showers and a poor forecast for the rest of the day on Saturday, October 18. The AutoSaver Ford/Springfield Buick-GMC “Vermont Freedom & Unity” event has been rescheduled to the following Saturday, October 25, with a start time of 2:00 p.m.

WEST HAVEN, VT – The winged warriors of the Bond Auto Parts Sprint Cars of New England (SCoNE) tour will make their official debut at Devil’s Bowl Speedway on Saturday, October 18, joining the AutoSaver Ford/Springfield Buick-GMC “Vermont Freedom & Unity” event. A successful test was completed by two teams on Wednesday, drawing rave reviews.
Lacey Hanson, a veteran of season seasons with the SCoNE series, and 16-year-old rookie Tyler Austin each turned laps in order to help gather information for their teams and competitors alike. For Hanson, whose team is based just 10 minutes from the track in Orwell, VT, it was a productive day.
“It was great. I was glad we got to come out and practice and see what the track is like,” she said. “I think it’s going to be a great show.”

The brawls following the Charlotte Motor Speedway Chase race was the result of the heat being turned up on the drivers to stay in The Chase. With Talladega coming up this weekend, there could be a lot more fists flying. Here’s what it looks like going into Degga: Logano, Kyle Busch, Charlotte winner Harvick, Newman, Edwards, Gordon, Hamlin and Kahne are the top eight. After Talladega: Kenseth, Kaselowski, Johnson and Junior could be eliminated.
We’ve seen sports news reports that the Los Angeles mayor expects to announcement that a new NFL franchise will add a team to his city very soon. We know that NASCAR CEO Brian France has stated that he’d like to be part of that management team. Considering that Brian has signed two big NASCAR TV rights contracts, a move by NASCAR’s chief executive now may be the right time for him. He’ll leave NASCAR with big TV rights money for several years. Unfortunately, the TV ratings for The Chase to the Nextel Cup, his creation, haven’t kept pace with the money increase courtesy of Fox and the NBC sports networks.

(Thompson, CT) – 17 year-old Derek Griffith and the Griffith race team is excited to be competing at the 2014 World Series, at the prestigious Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park on Oct 17-19.
Griffith, a Hudson, NH native will complete his third full season with the Granite State Pro Stock Series (GSPSS) by racing in their season finale 50-lap race. Derek currently sits fourth in the point’s battle, just 38 points out of the top spot.
