Barre, VT – The Thunder Road Coca-Cola Labor Day Classic scheduled for Sunday, August 31 has been postponed due to rain and rescheduled for Monday, September 1. Qualifying for the event got underway and the first three Late Model heats were completed before the rain came and postponed the remainder of the event. A total of 33 Late Models were on hand looking for one of the 30 starting spots in the 36th running of the event.

Waterford, CT (August 31, 2014) – Waterford Speedbowl has postponed its Back to School Bash scheduled for Sunday afternoon due to inclement weather. The show has been rescheduled to Sunday, September 21 with the same event lineup. The start time has been pushed up to accommodate fans and families.

The Wiscasset Speedway held a fan appreciation day at the track last Saturday. Fans were able to gather on the track to both meet and talk with drivers before racing. There were bicycle races on the track for kids to compete in. Also, there were numerous bike giveaways for children, as well as other prizes for both kids and adults. A car show was held in the parking lot prior to race time. There were cars and trucks of all ages for spectators to view. All car show participants were given free passes to the races.

Harrington’s Andrew McLaughlin took the lead in a flurry of activity on lap 31 of the 40 lap Dysart’s Late Model feature at Speedway 95 and picked up his third win of the season. Hermon driver John Curtin Jr. led the first 29 circuits, but was passed by Paul White of Corinna on lap 30. McLaughlin then passed White on lap 31 and led to the checkers in the caution free race. Lloyd Nickerson of Corinth returned to the speedway following a three week absence and came from a 9th place start to post a second place finish. Third went to points leader Brenton Parritt of Steuben with John Kalel II of Orrington finishing fourth. White ended up fifth.

Waterford, CT (August 30, 2014) – Waterford Speedbowl hosted Thunder on the Sound Saturday, a seven division motorsports program highlighted by the 18th annual Budweiser Modified Nationals SK Modified® 150. The biggest race of the year for the track’s headline NASCAR Whelen All-American Series division was won by Tyler Chadwick of Ledyard. Other winners on the night included Keith Rocco of Berlin in the Valenti Auto Mall Late Models, while a pair of drivers picked up their third victories of the year, Ryan Waterman of Danielson in the Street Stocks Ray Christian III of Groton in the Mini Stocks. Paul Buzel of Trumbull was a first time winner in SK Light Modified action, Mike Christopher Jr. of Wolcott won in the INEX Legend Cars and Paul LaPlante won the Vintage Outlaw Modified race.
