MON_9359Rookie Sontag Claims First Sportsman Modified Win

This past Saturday night brought nine feature events at Monadnock Speedway. The night included the NEMA Iron Mike Memorial Race, Pro 4 Modifieds and the speedway’s weekly divisions.

The Young Guns feature was lead out by Chase Curtis with Devin Guy on his outside. On the green Alex Barden took over fourth position, but that wasn’t long lived when Jaret Curtis took back fourth leaving Barden back in fifth on lap 6. The first caution came out when Isabella Minchella crossed traffic on the front stretch and hit the wall. On the restart Chase Curtis still had the lead with Devin Guy right behind him, but it didn’t take long for Shelby Avery to take over the second position and one lap later bounced off the wall and took Barden with her. When it was all sorted out the race ended with the top five finishers Chase Curtis, Devin Guy, Jaret Curtis, Mariah Stebbins and Colby Lambert.

Eddie MacDonald Wins in ACT, Falters in K&N

Eddie VL Speedway51Eddie MacDonald Wins in ACT, Falters in K&N

In what can only be described as a dominant performance, Eddie MacDonald won the American Canadian Tour’s Central Asphalt Paving Generation Next 151 race on Saturday, June 18 at Speedway 51 in Groveton, N.H. to capture his second win of the season. On Friday night, the Grimm Construction Chevy struggled with a very loose racecar to post a 13th place finish in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race at Stafford Motor Speedway in Stafford Springs, Connecticut.

After a hard crashed at Waterford Speedbowl a few weeks ago that required a new front clip on the Freddie Peterson owned EXIT Realty/Hancock Electric Motor Service Chevy, Eddie Mac and the crew were unsure how the car would respond in its first outing after being essentially rebuilt. They were quite pleased with the result as the “The Outlaw” posted the fastest time in practice and started seventh in the 150 lap event on the quarter mile oval.

Donnelly wins Sprint Car thriller; Mosher gets first Renegade win

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Kenny Tremont Jr.’s name repeats throughout Devil’s Bowl Speedway’s record books as its most successful stock car driver, and on Sunday, June 19, he added to his legacy by winning for the 71st time at the Vermont facility. The West Sand Lake, N.Y., veteran dominated on Central Vermont Motorcycles Night for his first win in the track’s 50th season, taking the “topless” special on the 3/10-mile Dirt Track at Devil’s Bowl. Also in victory lane during the night were Chris Donnelly and Matt Mosher.

Tremont started ninth on the 22-car NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Sportsman Modified field, which ran with the cars’ roofs removed for the special 35-lap race, and once he gained the lead he was untouchable. A stackup involving all but six cars slowed the race on lap 2 and several other cautions dotted the event, but “Slingshot” Tremont was never headed for the lead during any of the restarts and his familiar No. 115 S&S Asphalt Paving/Rifenburg Construction-sponsored car won by a full straightaway.
