Barre, VT – Eric Badore of Milton held off a pair of challengers early, then pulled away late to claim his second care Late Model victory on Casella Waste Systems Night at Thunder Road. Badore also won his heat race and the semi-feature to earn the second Maplewood Triple Crown of his Late Model career.

Badore and pole-sitter Jason Allen of Barre waged a side-by-side battle at the front of the pack for the first 10 laps of the race. Eric Chase of Milton took over second after Allen spun out on lap 32 to bring out the second caution of the evening on lap 32. Chase led by a nose on the outside on the restart following the caution flag, but Badore regained the top spot and stayed in front for the rest of the way.

Phil Scott of Middlesex and Nick Sweet of Barre moved through the field together but couldn’t run down Badore. Scott finished second and Sweet third. Rounding out the top 10 were Scott Dragon, Cody Blake, Nick Sweet, Jason Corliss, Trampas Demers, Kyle Pembroke, and David Whitcomb.

Duprey, Childs also score opening night wins

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil’s Bowl Speedway finally beat the rain – although not by much – to get its first Dirt Track event in the record books for the 2016 season. Brown’s Quarried Slate and Brown’s Orchard & Farm Stand presented the action, which was the first-ever event held on the 3/10-mile clay oval as part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.

Bobby Hackel and Vince Quenneville Jr. split victories in twin 25-lap features for Central Vermont Motorcycles Sportsman Modified division. Hackel, of Rensselaer, N.Y., won the first of three heat races and drew for the starting lineup inversion pill, finding himself mired in 12th place to start the first feature race. He made quick work of traffic, however, and avoided some early collisions to work his way into contention. After a physical pass of Tim LaDuc, Hackel took over the lead and cruised to the win.
