WINCHESTER, NH – Matt Frahm outran the massive cloudbanks of fog that were fast descending on Monadnock Speedway Saturday, May 31, night to win the Granite State Pro Stock Series 100-lap main event at the high-banked speedplant.
And while the thick fog forced the night’s Sportsman Modified feature to be postponed – two Sportsman Modified features will be run this Saturday, June 7th.
Young Gun Chris Lawrence and Thunder Stocker Tyler Janovsky each earned his first feature win of the summer, while Nutmeg State hot shoe Cory Casagrande made his first run on the high banks a memorable one, coming from the back of the field to win the show-finale Super Stock feature, however after a post race inspection Casagrande was disqualified and the win was awarded to Tom Carey III.

Seekonk, MA. – 8-year old Allen Hinckley, the son of Valenti Modified Racing Series driver Les, and wife Tracy, is back home after a 17-day stay at Connecticut Children’s Hospital and a recent two-week stay at Boston Children’s Hospital where he underwent his third surgical procedure for a Congenital Arachnoid Cyst.
(Brain Surgery) Arachnoid Cysts are rare. It occurs in 1 out of every 1,000 births. Last week Boston doctors gave the Hinckley family hope and optimism when they deemed Allen’s surgery a success.
“He’s doing as good as can be expected,” said his grandfather Les Hinckley Jr, Tuesday night. He was sitting here watching the Red Sox with me over the weekend and rooting his team on so that’s a good thing. It gives us hope. We have a long way to go. The kid is amazing, a real fighter.” said his proud grandfather. Time away from work and spent in hospitals going back to March has put a tremendous strain on the Hinckley family. The racing fraternity during difficult times is always ready to help in any way.
Wayne Darling, longtime race car owner and Seekonk Grand Prix proprietor announced two weeks ago he plans to open early this Saturday, June 7, and donate all money taken in between 9:00AM and 2:00 PM to help the Hinckley family. “It’s a way for us to help one of our own.” Darling said.
In support of Darling’s gesture, Seekonk Speedway will not open it’s pit gates until 2:00 PM with the hope racers will support what Darling is doing and stop off at the Grand Prix location. The Valenti Modified Racing Series appears at the Seekonk track that night.
Also Saturday evening, at Sonny’s Place, 349 Main St, Somers, CT., a special event is being held to “Come Support Allen” with music, dancing, food, and beverages. Tickets are $25 per person. The event will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM

On a spectacular Saturday night at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, Tyler King, of Livermore Falls opened the second week of the NASCAR Nite by grabbing his first victory of the season.
King who started in the second starting position battled side-by-side in the opening laps with Oakland’s, Mike Landry for the top spot. On lap four King edged Landry by a nose at the line to claim the top spot. A caution on lap 12 would re-group the 24-car field. Scarborough’s, Don Colpritt also took second from Landry and faced King on the restart.

Winchester, NH- Matt Frahm picks up his second series victory at Monadnock Speedway after surviving a caution-marred race Saturday night.
Hudson, NH’s Derek Griffith and Buxton, ME’s Larry Gelinas led the field to the line, but before the field could complete a lap, Griffith and Dillon Moltz made contact, sending both to the rear. The start of the race seemed to be a precursor to what was to come, as a total of 12 cautions flew on the night. Swanzey, NH’s Russ Hersey seemed to have the car to beat early, as the 4-time track champ repeatedly found himself at the point, until the 4-time track champ bobbled coming off turn four, in which Frahm took full advantage, jumping multiple positions to the lead. That would be the last time Hersey would lead in the race, as his engine expired, ending his day early.
Belchertown, MA’s Barry Gray methodically fought his way through the field, and became the car to beat mid-race as he began to walk away from the field. Gray would relinquish the spot on a restart after a contested call sent the two-time GSPSS Monadnock feature winner to the back of the pack. Frahm would fend off charges from Gelinas, who ran consistently in the top 6 all night, and Cory Robert late in the race, to become the career wins leader in the Granite State Pro Stock Series. It is the Lambert Roofing/WDW Machine team’s fourth victory in the series’ short life span.

LUCAMA, NC (May 31) – Daniel Hemric took advantage of late race contact between leaders Preston Peltier and Trevor Noles to secure his third Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model win of the season in Saturday night’s Dogwood Blossom 150 at Southern National Motorsports Park. All three of Hemric’s PASS South triumphs this year have come after late race rallies that have seen him take the lead with 12 or fewer laps left to go in each race.
“Without a little luck on your side you can never get one of these things, these races are so hard to win now,” said Hemric, after becoming the first multiple time winner in 7 PASS South events at Southern National. “The cautions fell right so we could show the fans what we had left. It’s just an honor to be a part of this deal and hopefully we can come back and do it again soon.”

Waterford, CT (May 31, 2014) – Exciting motorsports action returned to the Connecticut shoreline Saturday evening as Waterford Speedbowl hosted its Four Cylinder Fury NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing program. Four cylinder racecars were the highlight of the night, however Craig Lutz of Miller Place, NY stole the spotlight with his first-ever victory in thrilling fashion during the night’s SK Modified® race. Other NASCAR Whelen All-American Series wins went to Ken Cassidy Jr. of Lisbon, who was back in the winner’s circle during an extra-distance Mini Stock feature and Jason Palmer of Berlin recorded his first Valenti Auto Mall Late Model win of the season. The Northeast Mini Stock Tour race was won by Toby Wells of Dublin, NH and Robin Berghman of East Providence, RI picked up the victory in the visiting New England Pro Four Modified race. Hometown driver Jordan Hadley won the X-Car feature.
Lutz needed a gritty performance over much of the 35-lap SK Modified® feature to record an exciting first career victory that put the fans on their feet for the finish. He spent the opening half of the race trying to find a way around Diego Monahan. It was Monahan that led the 35-lap SK Modified feature to the green flag with Jeff Gallup flanking his outside. Two attempts to start the race were pulled back by officials before Monahan prevailed on a clean try. Lutz, who started in third, got past Gallup’s inside on the opening lap and immediately began to look for racing room on Monahan.
