CHARLOTTE, NC (May 27) – As the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models prepare to return to Southern National Motorsports Park this weekend, the series is in the midst of one of its most competitive seasons ever. Through five races so far this year, there have been four different winners. Only Daniel Hemric has been able to double up in victory lane in 2014, yet that was with two different teams, Woodman Racing and Carswell Motorsports.
This Saturday night’s 2nd Annual Dogwood Blossom 150 could very well see the fifth different PASS South Super Late Model winner this season. Southern National Motorsports Park in eastern North Carolina has traditionally been a stronghold for Super Late Model racing. PASS South competitors John Batten and Joe Heigl are both former Super Late Model track champions at the high banked, 4/10 mile speedway.

Reid Lanpher #59
Manchester, Maine
Two weeks after getting his driver’s license, 16-year old Manchester, Maine resident Reid Lanpher achieved a lifelong dream when he races in the Pro Series at Beach Ridge Motor Speedway. A stout field of 29 Pro Stocks arrived at the Ridge to compete in the opening event of 2014 for the NASCAR All American Series.
Lanpher, a sophomore at Maranacook High School, was required to start at the rear of his 14 car heat due to his rookie status. In 12 laps, the Jason Ricker prepared, EZ Hauler Trailers, EJP Racing, Eastern Township Docks Chevy Monte Carlo SS passed 11 cars to grab a 3rd place finish which set up a 6th place starting position for the 50 lap final.

Jessie Mueller Wins Second Straight Modified Event at Thunder Road
Barre, VT – Barre’s own Jason Corliss scored his first career Thunder Road Late Model win in the 52nd running of the Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic. Corliss stole the win with a last lap pass of multi-time Thunder Road Champion Nick Sweet in a photo finish of the first Vermont State Late Model Championship event of the year.
Sweet led every step of the way during the first 99 laps of the caution free 100 lap event. The hometown favorite rode the much favored high lane as he lapped the majority of the field. Sophomore driver Corliss and Cody Blake caught Sweet in the final 10 laps as they worked heavy lap traffic. Corliss got by Blake but couldn’t find the grip to get around Sweet. With the white flag flying, Corliss made a last ditch effort as he threw his Burnett Scrap Metals Ford Fusion to the low lane.
Waterbury, VT –The American Canadian Tour (ACT) today announced 2014 point funds for its two touring series, the ACT US and the Série ACT in Quebec, and Thunder Road International Speedbowl, that will total over one hundred and three thousand dollars ($103,000.00) to the competitors of ACT.
“We believe that the difficult recessionary times are behind us and we are looking forward to both our touring events in the US and Canada, as well as what is shaping up to be one of the most interesting weekly programs at Thunder Road that we have seen since the inception of the ACT crate motor program back in 1999,” said Tom Curley, President of ACT.

CHARLOTTE, NC (May 21) – After successfully returning to Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, NC last year, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models are ready to once again hit the high banks on Saturday, May 31 for the 2nd Annual Dogwood Blossom 150. This year, teams return to Southern National with a hefty notebook to rely on full of data acquired in the series’ four trips to the track in 2013.
Wallkill, NY’s Tyler Dippel is especially looking forward to returning to Southern National for the Dogwood Blossom 150. After competing on a very limited basis with the PASS South Super Late Models last year, the 14-year-old Empire State driver heads back to Southern National Motorsports Park where he qualified in the top 10 for last year’s season-ending Mason Dixon Meltdown. And that’s significant for the young driver. Southern National will be the first return trip for Dippel of any of the tracks he has competed on while racing in PASS South.
