granite state prostock seriesAfter ten events on the 2013 Granite State Pro Stock schedule, the second year series is gearing up for one of their biggest stages of the season, the annual World Series of Speedway Racing at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. The GSPSS will be part of the 15 division end of season celebration at the 5/8 high banked oval.

On April 14, the season began on the same stretch of asphalt with “Mad Dog” George Bessette taking down the win. As the teams head back on October 19 and 20. Thompson standout Mike O’Sullivan leads the championship standings by a scant six points over Jeremy Davis.

Both drivers have one win on the season, and have been swapping the championship lead back and forth over the past several weeks. Larry Gelinas is still in the hunt, sitting 28 points behind O’Sullivan, with Matt Frahm still having a mathematical chance, 39 points behind. Frahm has 2 wins this season, while Gelinas has been shut out of Victory Lane all year. Thompson brings the former Oxford 250 champ back to his most previous championship grounds, winning the Pro Stock title a couple of seasons ago.

Waterbury, VT – The 2012 Thunder Road Track Champion, Nick Pilotte, from Jefferson, NH was disqualified from the People’s United Bank ‘Mini-Milk Bowl’ after an engine teardown unveiled an illegal engine, according to the 2013 ACT rules for the Street Stock division. The violation was a mismatched set of pistons and heads.

During the same teardown inspection, Groveton, New Hampshire’s Jason Kenison was awarded the win. “We will have to examine the rulebook for 2014 as it relates to the Nissan 240SX,” said Dean Gallison, the ACT Director of Competition.

ISMA TEAMS LOOK FOR GOOD RUNS AT THOMPSON WORLD SERIES AND A POSSIBLE 2013 CHAMPIONSHIP

By Carol D Haynes, ISMA PR

Oswego, NY – “Liquid” Lou Cicconi has been racing for almost 40 years and has won races, titles and awards many times over in his long and successful career which started in 1974 in quarter midgets. But, there is one thing he hasn’t won yet – an ISMA Championship title. Coming into the Thompson World Series of Speedway Racing, he’s got a pretty good shot at adding that title to his record book.

With ISMA an owner-based organization, there are actually two titles up for grabs each year – Car Owner of the Year and Driver of the Year. Over the years the two have come from the same team, except in 2011 when Vic Miller took the Car Owner title while Russ Wood, driving for Jeff Holbrook, claimed the Driver title.
