Ben Rowe claimed an exciting victory in the Best of the Best Pro Stock 150 at Speedway 660 on Saturday night. The Turner, Maine driver also earned a guaranteed starting position in the Auto Value 250 on SpeedWeekend. Rowe, driving for the Hal O’Neal Racing team, was happy to get the win for his New Brunswick racing friends.
“These guys only race a couple of times a year and I am glad they asked me to come up here and drive for them because they are a great team and gave me a strong car tonight” said Rowe. “It sure was a handfull because the power steering let go early in the race and I am pretty much beat right now, but it’s great to get the win for these guys.”
The Pro All Star Series Tour driver struggled early in the race and took advantage of early cautions to get the crew to make adjustments on the car. He ended up coming to the front just before the half way mark and gave up the lead in the 2nd half of the race before passing Brian Gillespie for the win. Gillespie finished second, while Chris Duncan came home third. Matt Harris claimed fourth while Greg Fahey settled for fifth. (more…)

Barre, VT – Veteran Enduro racer Don “Dipstick” Tofani, of Plainfield, has filed the first entry to the 28th Annual M&M Beverage Enduro 200 on Sunday, August 5 at Barre’s Thunder Road. Tofani will pilot the Green Mountain Paving/Richard Bell Surveyor 1996 Oldsmobile Cutlass in the 200 lap, $3,000 to win, event.
Over 100 nearly street-legal cars driven by amateurs will participate in the popular annual event. Known as “The People’s Race,” the Enduro is a 200-lap race for anyone over the age of 16 that runs non-stop with no cautions, only stopping the race for emergencies. Cars will line up on the front straightaway three wide and be sent off by a crowd countdown for an all out brawl with a $3,000 payday. Tofani, who won the Enduro in 1987, is attempting to join Milton’s Doug Turner as the only drivers to have more than one win in the event. He finished second in last year’s event. (more…)
Quenneville Back On Top At Devil’s Bowl Speedway
Bushey, Duprey, Masterson win in close finishes
Vince Quenneville, Jr., returned to victory lane at Devil’s Bowl Speedway at the Cat Country 105.3 Night event on Friday, winning the 35-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Bond Auto Parts Modified feature. Quenneville, of Brandon, VT, bolted from his 10th starting position into the lead early and was never headed. The victory was his fourth of the year and vaulted him into the unofficial championship point lead.
Leon Gonyo of Chazy, NY had a very strong run and finished second for his best result since a victory on May 25. Cambridge, NY young gun Alex Bell flew through the field after a crash in the opening laps and a subsequent trip to pit road to finish third. Rookie Jeff Haskins of Wells, VT finished a career-best fourth, and Jessey Mueller of Olmstedville, NY rebounded from a mid-race crash to finish fifth, despite missing the left-side sheet metal on his car. Joey Roberts was sixth, followed by Ron Proctor, Cody Sargen, Jason Bruno, and Andy Smith.
Although Quenneville now has the championship lead, he only has an eight-point cushion on Proctor, 662-654, unofficially. Only four races remain on the regular-season schedule for the Modifieds including a double-feature event on Friday, August 3. (more…)
Waterbury, VT – The stars of Serie ACT Castrol will head to Autodrome St-Eustache in St-Eustache, QC this Saturday, July 28 for the ACT 200. Point leader Jean-Francois Dery looks to claim his third straight victory in the series, and his second in a row at St-Eustache in 2012.
Second-place point man Donald Theetge will attempt to keep up with the torrid pace set by Dery, who has yet to finish out of the top five except for a mechanical failure in St-Croix earlier this year. Theetge looked well on his way to winning the previous race at St-Eustache, until a duel with eventual winner Dery left him facing the field against the turn three wall. Theetge has collected two wins for himself in 2012, however, and the two-time Serie ACT Castrol Champion will look to close the 13-point gap between himself and Dery after a blown motor at Circuit Riverside on July 14. The Best of the Best Pro Stock 150 highlights a full evening of racing at Speedway 660. On Saturday, beginning at 7pm, five racing divisions see action and the evening will end in a Victory Lane celebration for one winning pro stock driver.
“The Best of the Best is really one of our most important races of the year because the winning driver gets an automatic starting position in the Auto Value 250, come SPEEDWEEKEND” said Speedway 660’s Chris Johnston. “The Pro All Star Series in the States and the Maritime Parts for Trucks Tour are both off this weekend, so we expect some of those teams to be here for the Best of the Best.” (more…)

THE STORY
Austin Theriault of Fort Kent, Maine, returns to ACT Late Model Tour competition this week for for the ACT 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, July 28. Theriault heads into the first ACT points race in more than a month fresh off a third-place finish in the TD Bank Oxford 250 last Sunday, and he’s currently fourth in the overall standings – just 42 points out of the lead. Beech Ridge is a flat, .333-mile track, which is traditionally the kind of track where the AT Racing No. 57 Pelletier Ford Ford Fusion performs at its best. Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt., begins the stretch drive toward a ninth career ACT Late Model Tour championship in the ACT 150 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine, on Saturday, July 28. After more than a month off from ACT competition, the Top-4 drivers in the standings begin the final five-race stretch toward the season’s conclusion separated by just 42 points. Hoar has always had an affinity for the flat Beech Ridge Motor Speedway – having returned to ACT Victory Lane at the track in 2009 following an eight-year hiatus from the series to concentrate on what is now the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.
