Stafford Motor Speedway, Glen Reen returned to Stafford’s SK Modified®
division in 2011 driving the #21 owned by Don Silberman. Josh Sylvester
drove Silberman’s #21 to Rookie of the Year honors in 2010 and Reen took the
car’s performance to an even higher level in 2011, finishing 6th in the
points standings with 6 top-5 and 12 top-10 finishes in 18 starts. As good
as the 2011 season was for Reen and the Silberman crew, Reen says that the

SOUTH PLATTSBURGH – Airborne Speedway will host a stand-alone Fourth of July Holiday Fireworks Spectacular Tuesday, July 3 and combine it with a new style of motorsports mayhem known as “car soccer”
Car soccer is a demolition derby variation popularized at Midwestern State Fairs. Teams of drivers attempt to score goals with a steel ball without getting knocked out of commission by their opponents.
“I think we’ve struck a chord with this one,” promoter Mike Perrotte said. “There’s been a lot of interest and inquiries about rules and signing up already.” (more…)
BRADFORD, VT – “The Fairlee Flier,” Kevin Chaffee of Fairlee, Vermont Motorsports Magazine 2011 Driver of the Year, has landed a season-long ride in the 2011 USAC Dirt Midget Association championship winning team at Bear Ridge Speedway.
“We’re happy to welcome Kevin to the Seals-It team on a full time basis in 2012,” said team owner and New England Auto Racing Hall of Fame member Skip Matczak of Ellington, CT. “Kevin did a great job last year, finishing second his first time out and then going on to win two features. Moultonboro, NH – The Lakes Region Ice Racing Club sponsored its 4th weekend of automobile, oval track ice racing last Sunday on Lee Pond in Moultonboro, NH. The Jaffery and Milton ice racing clubs did not have enough ice to race and many of their members journeyed to the Lakes Region to race. Lots of cars and lots of fans made for a great show even as the track suffered from spring weather.
A new ¼ mile track was laid out on the north end of Lee Pond and racing started on a mild, winter afternoon with the hot laps and qualifying heats for the 5 divisions of cars: Juniors, 4Cyl Front Wheel Drive, 4Cyl Rear Wheel Drive, V8 Stock, and the mighty Modifieds. (more…)
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (Feb. 19) – Nine race dates for IMCA Modifieds are on the schedule for the 11th annual World Products Empire State Series.
Seven of those events will be held during the regular 2012 point season and four, including the opening night show on Friday, April 13 at newly-sanctioned Clinton County Raceway in Lock Haven, Pa., now pay $1,000 to win.
Other Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational qualifying races are Wednesday, June 20 and Sunday, Aug. 19 at Dunn Hill 2 Speedway in Monroeton, Pa., and Tuesday, Aug. 28 at I-88 Speedway in Afton.
Also hosting series events will be Five Mile Point Speedway in Kirkwood on Sunday, April 22 and Saturday, Oct. 27; Skyline Raceway in Cortland on Sunday, May 27; Fulton Speedway on Friday, Sept. 28; and Black Rock Speedway in Dundee on Saturday, Oct. 20. (more…)
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – With a fast lap of 194.738 mph – the fastest qualifying lap at Daytona in over a decade – Carl Edwards put the No. 99 Roush Fenway Racing Ford on the pole for the 54th annual Daytona 500 during Sunday’s Daytona 500 Qualifying Presented by Kroger.
Edwards’ time was the fastest since 1999 when Jeff Gordon took the pole for the Daytona 500 at 195.067 mph and Dale Jarrett took the Coke Zero 400 pole at 194.860 mph.
“It’s an amazing feeling,” Edwards said. “This is very special. It’s not a driving accomplishment, this is a team accomplishment. There’s a lot of pride in this for everyone. I’m excited to have all the guys back at the shop this week know they sent the best racecars down to Daytona.” (more…)
