(THOMPSON, CT) – Thompson Speedway Motorsports announced today a new 2016 season pass program that will be available for purchase beginning Friday, Nov. 27. The passes will be sold at a special Black Friday discount from Friday through Monday, Nov. 30. This exciting new program gives loyal fans and teams the ability to purchase paddock passes or general admission tickets for select events at huge discounts.

The Platinum Paddock Pass offers the ultimate package for the racing enthusiast, including general admission and paddock access to all oval and road course events to be held in the 2016 season. With a minimum of 18 races already scheduled for next year, this option is a great way to enjoy everything that TSMP has to offer, including four NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour races, all NASCAR Whelen All-American Series events, the Historic Oval Invitational, the Vintage Motorsports Festival, Open Wheel Weekend, SCCA races and more. The Platinum Paddock Pass will be on sale for Black Friday for $399 from Friday, Nov. 27 to Monday, Nov. 30, 2015. The price for the pass from Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015 to March 31, 2016 will be $449. After April 1, 2016 the price for the pass will go up to $499.

Barre, VT – Thunder Road officials have announced the release of the 2016 Thunder Road schedule of events. The 18-event schedule for the 57th season of racing at the “Nation’s Site of Excitement” begins with the 18th Annual Merchants Bank 150 season opener featuring the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) on Saturday/Sunday, April 30/May 1 and runs through the 54th Annual Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl on Saturday/Sunday, October 1 & 2.

A special weekly event Sunday, May 22 will kick off the 2016 Late Model “King of the Road” chase. The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Models will then return for the 54th Annual Mekkelsen Memorial Day Classic on Sunday, May 29 as part of a doubleheader with the Thunder Road Late Models.

(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Motor Speedway’s 2015 Rookie of the Year program will award $7,000 for its five NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions. New in 2015 was the addition of $1,600 for the Rookie of the Year Runner Up bonus bringing the total rookie awards to $8,600. The Runner Up bonus is provided by Magnus Racing Products and is distributed among the 5 divisions. Taking home the Rookie of the Year Runner Up honors and a $200 bonus in the DARE Stock division this year was Marcello Rufrano, driver of the #48 Wheeler’s Auto Chevrolet.

Rufrano came to Stafford’s DARE Stock ranks from the Wild Thing Karts, which race on Monday nights at Stafford. He showed that he was a quick study behind the wheel as he posted 10 top-8 finishes in his first 12 starts, which culminated with his first win on July 17.

RPM Motorsports has announced that former American-Canadian Tour (ACT) standout Scott Payea will join the team for the 2016 ACT Tour season. Milton, VT’s Payea returns after two years off from racing to compete for the Tour championship behind the wheel of the RPM Racing Engines Ford with car owner and crew chief Rick Paya.

Payea previously competed on the ACT Tour for six seasons beginning in 2005. He was the ACT Rookie of the Year in 2005 and finished runner-up in points for three straight years from 2007-2009, losing the 2008 championship to Patrick Laperle by a single point. Payea also won five Tour events, including two victories in the Merchants Bank 150 at Barre, VT’s Thunder Road as well as wins at White Mountain Motorsports Park, Waterford Speedbowl, and Airborne Park Speedway.

Lee USA Speedway crowns 2015 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series champions.

Manchester, NH –  The annual Lee USA Speedway “Banquet of Champions”
closed out the 2015 season at the Executive Court Inn and Conference Center on Saturday night, with Tommy Tombarello, Jr., Jay Sands, Dennis Dumas, Troy Washburn, and Jesse Tellier celebrated as the best of the year at New Hampshire’s “Center of Speed”.

After Master of Ceremonies John Spence, Track Manager Bill Callen and owner Red MacDonald recognized the loyal staff and legion of sponsors, it was on to showcasing the accomplishments of the best drivers to circle the seacoast oval in the past season.

O’Donnell, Moodie, Davis Honored at Banquet of Champions

troadBarre, VT – Thunder Road International Speedbowl honored its 2015 Champions with the annual Banquet of Champions at the Barre Elks Club on Saturday, November 14. Derrick O’Donnell received the top honors for the third consecutive season in the Thunder Road Late Model division, while Brendan Moodie and Jamie Davis earned their first Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen and Allen Lumber Street Stock championships, respectively.

 

North Haverhill, NH’s O’Donnell became the second driver in Thunder Road history to win three straight “King of the Road” crowns, joining Chuck Beede’s run from 1992-1994. O’Donnell’s championships came in his first three years in the division. He earned a career-high four wins in 2015, giving him a total of seven for his career. Among the victories was his second Memorial Day Classic triumph as well as a win in the Times Argus Mid-Season Championships. O’Donnell also finished second in the Milk Bowl and third in the Vermont Governor’s Cup.

EASLEY, SC (October 24) – Fireworks erupted Saturday night when Joey Doiron and Zane Smith made contact just past the finish line at Greenville Pickens Speedway as Doiron crashed taking the win in The Howler for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models. Despite a car that was destroyed in the incident, Doiron walked to victory lane with the win and his first PASS Super Late Model National Championship.

“I try to race everybody like they race me and now my car is destroyed,” said Doiron afterwards. “We held back and saved our tires and just had enough to get there to the leader [Smith] and race for the win. We’re really proud to win the PASS National Championship too. It’s a lot of hard work during the season to get to all these races in the North and South and I’m glad it paid off for us to get the title.”

FOUR CHEVROLET SS DRIVERS ADVANCE TO THIRD ROUND OF THE CHASE

TALLADEGA, Ala. (Oct. 25, 2015) – Following a wild finish in the CampingWorld.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, four Team Chevy drivers have advanced to the Eliminator round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The 10-race playoff began with nine Chevy SS drivers vying for this season’s championship title. With only five races remaining in the season, four Chevrolet SS drivers are left standing to try to earn Team Chevy’s 31st driver championship.

Jeff Gordon in the No. 24 3M Chevrolet SS is the highest-seeded Chevy driver heading into the third round of the Chase which begins next week at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway. Gordon, the pole-sitter in his final start at Talladega, earned a third-place finish in the scheduled 188-lap race that ended in a green-white-checkered finish under yellow.

TALLADEGA, Ala. (Oct. 25, 2015) – Martin Truex Jr.’s come-from-behind seventh-place finish Sunday at Talladega Superspeedway advanced the Furniture Row Racing driver to NASCAR’s Eliminator Round of the Chase, equivalent to college basketball’s Elite 8.

The seven other drivers joining Truex in the third round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup will be Joey Logano, Brad Keselowski, Carl Edwards, Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon, Kurt Busch and Kevin Harvick.
