Burgess scores second straight Unity Raceway victory

Unity, Maine – Jeff Burgess of East Madison scored his sixth Late Model feature race victory of the season Saturday night at Unity Raceway on a stock car racing program that saw both Steve Rackliff of Starks (Late Model Pro Four) and Jayson Bosworth of Cornville (Flyin’ 4) pull off last-lap triumphs in their main events.

Burgess, locked in a tight battle for the track championship with Skowhegan’s David Folsom, charged past his championship rival’s son, David ‘Deuce’ Folsom II, to take command of the Late Model 35-lapper. In the closing laps the elder Folsom made his way into second position, but he could not catch the high-flying Burgess.

Joe Krawiec is USAC Dirt Midget Association Champ

BRADFORD, VT……”Flatfoot Joe” Krawiec of Bristol, CT cinched the first USAC Dirt Midget Association Championship by winning his fourth feature of the season at Bear Ridge Speedway on Saturday night. Krawiec started sixth and grabbed the lead of the non-stop event on lap four. Scott Holcomb of Granby, CT used his runner-up finish to secure the second spot in the points battle and Tony Montesi of Roxbury, CT came home third to secure his first podium finish of the season. Dana Shaw of Plainfield, CT had another strong run, coming from 11th to finish fourth. Jamie Spalding of Chaplin, CT was fifth, completing an all Nutmeg State top five. Both heats and the feature went green to checker.

Pasteryak Scores Family First At Stafford

Stafford Springs (CT) — For 35 years, the Pasteryak family has been trying to get to victory lane at the famed Stafford Springs (CT) Motor Speedway. Friday night, September 9, it finally happened.

With his Father Charlie, and Uncle Carl, watching from pit road, Chris Pasteryak, of Lisbon, CT., started third in a 25-car field, took the lead on lap two, and went on to win the Valenti Modified Racing Series “Shark Cycle 80” for his third victory of the 2011 season.
