CARQUEST FALL FINAL WEEKEND TO CLOSE OUT 2011 SEASON AT STAFFORD SPEEDWAY
(Stafford Springs, CT)—Stafford Motor Speedway will close out its 2011
NASCAR season with the 39th Annual CARQUEST Fall Final Weekend, scheduled
for Sept. 30th through Oct. 2nd. The track will host the final races for
its five NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions as well as the
penultimate round of the 2011 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season. Stafford
will crown its track champions that weekend and the Whelen Modified Tour

Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour has announced the twenty-four (24) car field for the fourth annual “Showdown at Chaudiere” All-Star event at Autodrome Chaudiere in Valle-Jonction, QC on Saturday, September 10. Twelve (12) teams from the U.S.-based ACT Late Model Tour will head north of the border to take on twelve (12) teams from the Quebec-based Série ACT Castrol.

CHANGE OF PLANS HAS DON WOOD IN CONTENTION FOR DARE STOCK TRACK CHAMPIONSHIP AT STAFFORD SPEEDWAY
(Stafford Springs, CT)—After winning the 2009 DARE Stock track
championship, Don Wood ran the first half of the 2010 season and won 2 races
before handing the keys to his car over to David and Paul Arute for the
second half of the year. The plan was the same for the 2011 season, as Wood
was going to run the first half of the year and then hand the car over to
Stephanie Berardi and Charlie Newman. But Wood again had 2 wins and was
leading the points at the midway point of the season, so the team made the
decision to keep Wood in the car and race for the track championship. (more…)

The driver of the No. 18 M&M’s Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) is returning to Richmond for Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Wonderful Pistachios 400 as the most recent winner at the .75-mile oval, having won the April event in dominating fashion. It was his third career Sprint Cup victory at Richmond to go along with four runner-up finishes and an amazing 11 top-fives in just 13 career Sprint Cup starts in Virginia’s capital city.

Each Tour will compete in its own 125-lap feature event for purses in excess of $53,000.00 for each Tour. Upon completion of the two 125s, the field for the 50-Lap, $50,000.00+ SHOWDOWN will be assembled and the stage will be set for what could be one of the greatest battles in NASCAR Whelen Modified racing history. Barre, VT – The Thunder Road community of fans, competitors and officials came together during the Bond Auto Labor Day weekend event to accumulate thousands of dollars in food and cash donations for the Waterbury Food Shelf. The Waterbury area was one of the hardest hit during last week’s Hurricane Irene devastation. The Waterbury Food Shelf was not spared and lost its entire inventory.
