YOUNG GUNS MATT GALKO AND JOEY CIPRIANO AGAIN IN THE THICK OF SK LIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT AT STAFFORD SPEEDWAY
(Stafford Springs, CT)—In Stafford’s SK Light Modified division this
season, the fight for the track championship is once again all about the
young guns. 17-year-old Matt Galko is the defending track champion in the
SK Light division and he currently holds the points lead this season, but he
is currently only 18 points, or 9 positions on the track ahead of
16-year-old Joey Cipriano. After dueling for the championship last season
along with Tommy Barrett, Jr., Galko and Cipriano are right back at it,
fighting for the 2011 SK Light Modified championship. (more…)
Nick Sweet: ACT Late Model Tour

THE STORY
Nick Sweet of Barre, Vt., makes his first visit to Riverside Speedway in St. Croix, Que., when the ACT Late Model Tour competes in the Can-Am 200 on Saturday, August 27. It will be the second turn in the RPM Motorsports No. 57 RPM Racing Engines Ford for Sweet, who finished 12th in his debut with the team last weekend at Oxford Plains Speedway. The race on the unique .625-mile odd-shaped oval is a combination event with the Canadian-based ACT Castrol Series.
THOMPSON, CT. The August 25th race schedule at the Thompson International Speedway was cancelled today due to the forecast of thunder storms and heavy rains. The decision, made by track owner Don Hoenig, came early in the day so that competitors and fans alike would not head for the speedway only to find themselves heading home upon their arrival. The scheduled race program had all six of Thompson’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions along with the Valenti Modified Racing Series. (more…)

THE STORY
Brent Dragon of Milton, Vt., looks to break a run of bad luck when the ACT Late Model Tour joins the ACT Castrol Series for the combination Can-Am 200 at Riverside Speedway in St. Croix, Que., on Saturday, August 27. Dragon finished fifth in 2010 at Riverside, an oddly-shaped, flat .625-mile oval. Dragon will be taking his own Dragon Motorsports car to the event, hoping to rebound from a 17th-place run at Oxford Plains Speedway last weekend – after which he found a mechanical issue that had led to the car’s recent handling issues. ANDREW CROSBY VICTORIOUS IN LITTLE ENDURO RACE AT 95
Andrew Crosby of Hermon took the lead on the second lap of the caution free Little Enduro feature at Speedway 95 Wednesday night and drove away from the remainder of the 20 car field, finishing a quarter lap ahead of second place Jeremy Scott of Carmel, who notched his first top three finish of the season. Ted Ryder of Carmel came from the rear of the field to finish third, followed by outside pole sitter Garett Hayman of Milford, who finished fourth. Darren Durrell, the current points leader with one week of racing left, finished fifth. Pole sitter Chad Badger of Milo was sixth, followed by Russell Blenkhorn of Bucksport, the only other drivers to finish on the lead lap. (more…)
