(Shediac, N.B.) — Undoubtedly, Calvin Rankin (#45) of Quispamsis likes to get a early jump on his Sportsman competitors in Atlantic Canada as he recorded a flawless win in an early season 100 lap event during Maritime Super Series for Sportsman stock car racing action Sunday afternoon during the Centre for Speed’s (CFS) first
event of the 2011 season.
In 2009, Rankin also recorded a win in the first extended Sportsman race of the season at CFS and, as he did then, he credited his crew for providing him with just the right set-up to enable him to master the newly configured 3/8 mile oval at CFS.

Cody Hodgson: NASCAR K&N Pro Series East

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Cody Hodgson of Escalon, Calif., posted his best-career finish in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East with an strong 8th-place run in the Army Strong 150 at Bowman Gray Stadium on Saturday, June 4. Hodgson’s career night came in the series’ inaugural visit to the track affectionately known as “The Madhouse.” After starting 22nd in the 27-car field, the Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidate slowly worked his way to the front by avoiding one of the many spins that dotted the evening. For his efforts, Hodgson leapt three spots in the K&N Pro Series East standings to ninth through five races.

The AOW Modified Tour started their 2011 season at Petty International Raceway in River Glade, NB on Saturday June 4 as a support class for the Lucas Oil 100 Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour event.
A huge crowd was on hand, and the 20-lap AOW Modified feature didn’t lack in excitement, as #64 Paul Costain (Moncton, NB) picked up his first ever AOW Modified feature win. 2009 & 2010 AOW Modified points champion #98 Mike “Sparky” Raeburn (Hampton, NB) finished a strong 2nd, while #48 Jamie Brown (St. Martin’s NB) had another of his many strong finishes coming 3rd.

Video – Jeff White wins The Big Jab ACT 150
For over 100 laps Eddie MacDonald ran in the top five in the Army Strong 150 K&N Pro Series East race at Bowman Gray Stadium before a wreck on the last lap produced a 13th place finish. The Grimm Construction Chevy had to battle from a 21st starting position on the tight flat quarter mile oval to run in the fifth spot by lap 38.
“This is so disappointing because we had such a great car and looked like we were going to have another good finish two races in a row (a third place finish in Iowa),” said MacDonald. “We really started out in a bad spot because the car bottomed out in qualifying but I was able to miss the wrecks in front and move up through the pack. The car really handled well and we needed it to be because this is a tough place to get

Video – Roger Lee Newton Gets His First PASS South Win at OCS
Hudson NH – Meegan Lord picked up her first career win in dramatic fashion this past Sunday at Hudson International Speedway. Slika Ennis and Jason Carroll also found their way to the winners circle at the historic high banks in Hudson NH.
From the pole position, Lord led the Thunder Light division to starter Bob Munroe’s green flag and led the caution free race from green to checker. In the first corner of the first lap, Chad Wendell was running right behind Lord but got loose and had to gather it back up enabling Lord to put distance between her and the rest of the field.
