Spud Speedway’s a wild card in the PASS North title chase

Naples ME (8/17)The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) super late model and modified stars and travel to the crown of Maine this weekend for their first ever appearance at Caribou’s Spud Speedway, a new venue for the traveling circle track circus that carries serious points implications for the pair of drivers battling for the super late model title.

At Spud there won’t be any notes for the crew chiefs to fall back on, no on track experience for the drivers. So, the teams that get a handle on the quickest way around the speedway in the least amount of time will have a definite edge. As the points paying races wind down, success at Spud will be key to capturing the 2010 super late model Championship

Hersey, Kimball battle for Championship

Winchester, NH: Once again a great night of excitement at the the northeast fastest highbanks. Fans and competitors were reminded that the track is celebrating its anniversary of its opening day which was Friday 13th 1971. It was fitting that the Antique Racers would be on hand to show fans some of the cars that ran many area speedways during the 1950’s and 60’s. These cars traveled our region at tracks like the Cheshire Fairgrounds track, Rythm Inn in Millers Falls Ma (next to now Turners Falls airport) , North Hinsdale track, Claremont Speedway ( now TwinState Speedway) to West Brattleboro (now property of Vermont Traveler Rv Sales). In passion and devotion in the preservation of our racing hertitage these cars, in some cases, fully restored look better now then in there days of competition. Tonight would see Bill Kemp in his famous 199 Chevy Camaro body car take his first victory at Monadnock as he had never had a win during normal competition. During introductions fans learned that the Whelan Modified Tour will be back to our track next year, so mark your calenders for June 25, 2011. This date normally set for New Hampshire Motor Speedway will be welcomed as ours instead. (more…)

Darling and car owner Gary Johnson came to the track Saturday planning to use the practice sessions to tune up the Johnson Landscaping ride, with no plans to even enter the event.
